ED, attendance up at R-B [D208]
Riverside/Brookfield Landmark (Bob Skolnik):
Two things caught my attention about the causes of R-B gaining students.
One, students are transfering from private schools. Since R-B's reputation is pretty consistent, I expect that this is a reflection of middle class families calculating they can't afford private school. See the earlier entry about declining median incomes.
The other explanation is transfers.
Is R-B going to become a more and more Latino high school? What implications does this have?
More students are attending Riverside-Brookfield High School this year than at any time since 1980, according to Principal/Superintendent Jack Baldermann. At the end of the first week of classes in the 2006-07 school year 1,490 students have enrolled at RB Baldermann said. That is an increase from the 1,414 students who attended RB last year.

"Most of [relocating students] are moving from the surrounding area. The plurality are coming from Morton High School."
