  • Carl I am so angry at 209 and especially Stan Fields for there asinine decision today to open school and allow parents, teachers and students to risk there lives going to 209, which is rated the worst school in Illinois!
I tried calling Fields all morning, along with his secretary and neither one was available to speak to me or other parents. We called to ask how he made the decision to open school today, when every other school was closed in the area. He,Fields did not respond, because he did'nt make it to school on time, and at last count at 10:30 am , him nor his secretary were still in school(they were communitng to proviso)!
The decision process of when to close the school should be made available to all parents, especially to all staff who don't reside in Proviso. If our teachers get in car accidents trying to show up for work during a blizzard, who'll teach our students? And knowing that over half the students did not show up today for school does not make sense. You can't make filet mignon from ground beef in one day, and with all the shenangins at 209, where janitors make $51,000 starting salary and teachers only make $32,000 starting salary, it makes sense to do the right thing and not risk people's lives by making them go to school when the weather is as bad as it was this morning!!!
My impression is Fields must fired and let go, he seems to have no clue in what matters and appears to have no clue in education.

  • Take your lazy ass to work, teacher aka A.R. Do you prefer the kids to stay home and get into mischief while their parents are at work. It wasn't bad out there at all. Just had to drive a little slower than usual. Only the speeding idiots got into accidents. SLOW DOWN. snowing, slow down....raining, slow down. This is Chicago, we are use to slush.

  • I agree if Fields thinks there should be school today, eventhough it was the first big snow storm of the season and every school in the area closed. But should'nt Stan Fields then make sure that he, himself lead by example and be in his office when the first bell rings at the beginning of the day?
I called him numerous times and he was'nt in his office until 11:00 am, because both his secretary and him had a long commute from Lake County do to the bad weather! My gosh, he had to drive from so far, but yet did'nt make it on time to do what he is very well paid to do !
I spoke to him, and the first thing out of his elegant and distinguished mouth was calling me an asshole for complaining about the conditions of this morning and not calling a snow day so to avoid any problems for the students and employees!!!
My, he gets paid $200,000 , brings his secretary with him from Mundelien and calls parents assholes!! What kind of joke of a superintendent is this clown? What trailer park did he come from in Okie land? How was he raised???
I believe a formal apology is in order by Mr. Fields , but he probably does'nt know how to do that because by his actions and words , this man appears in over his head in proviso.I will go ahead and file a formal complaint against Fields to the state board of education and with 209!

  • I live way up north where it snowed a lot -- 14 inches. Getting to the train this morning was rough and they did not plow the Metra station parking lot, so I had to shovel myself a parking space. I was not looking forward to getting back and having to clean off my car. When I got into the station near my home, I saw all the cars plowed in and full of snow. Strangely, my car was in a spot that melted and my car was perfectly cleaned off. How about that!

  • Fields looks ands acts like Kevin Federline! said...
How can Fields make any assesment? What school did he graduate from? What was his GPA?If he is so smart, what in the hell is he doing in Proviso and at 209? Why was he run out of Mundelien?
Fields is just a broke down hilbilly from the trailer parks, who's one check away from a reunion party back at the parks!
Fields reminds me of Kevin Federline Brittney's ex, who after getting lucky and living off her dumb but, was recently thrown out and and now has gone back to live in the trailers!!
Fields is just white trash, who is lucky he made it out of the parks and not sitting in jail along all of his relatives and neighbors!

  • For what it's worth I think the schools should stay open unless it's almost impossible.

Probably the superintendent and other staff should live closer to the school district than Lake or McHenry Counties, but I don't know how the district would enforce such a policy.

  • It took me 2 1/2 hours to get to school.

  • My goodness what a bunch of woosies. A little snow and you want the schools closed. Get a grip people.

  • I like your photos, Carl. Especially the one of the leafless tree. I also agree with your opinion about school being open. I had to go from First over to downtown Naperville at 7 am and it only took me about 10 mins longer than usual. Hey, it's Chicago, right? Don't we pride ourselves on getting through?

p.s. I'm very glad to see the inappropriate posts being knocked off before people turn completely off to the blog.
