N06, GOP low blow against Don Harmon [39th SEN]
Sen. Don Harmon represents a swath of northern Proviso Township, Melrose Park and Stone Park. He was challenged by a Republican Jim Rowe who made a number of over-the-top allegations against Harmon.
Rowe's late-in-the-campaign attack was a flyer targeting seniors. See Wednesday Journal.
The GOP sure knows how to find the classy candidates.

"Dear resident, you may have to move out of your home before Christmas," the letter begins. Then, in bold type, it says, "Senator Don Harmon is trying to kick you out of your senior retirement home so that developers can turn it into condos for the rich."
Harmon, the flier claims, has received "thousands of dollars in kickbacks from developers."
"If Senator Don Harmon has his way, you could be homeless by Christmas," it reads in underlined type.
The GOP sure knows how to find the classy candidates.

In fairness to the Republicans, it appears that the voters prefer a dead Republican (Glenn Harris) to a live Green (Nathan Helsabeck).

He also (Rowe) put out one of the most vicious smear pieces I have ever seen in my neighborhood (and we are in Lightford's district!!) that alleged in big bold type that Harmon took campaign funds in return for supporting a specific sex offender living next to a school. Does one ever wonder why so many are turned off from voting, much less from running??

Senator Harmon is one of classiest public servants I know and did not deserve having such a classless individual run against him. He withheld the storm and thank God we still have him representing our district.
He is the brighest star in the senate by far.

Don Harmon star will no longer shine if he continues to work with ethically-challenged elected officials like Saviano, DeLeo and Serpico.

Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie and Sen. Harman just screw every IL resident that works in MO. But what do they care since none of us are in thier districts. That's right now we get double taxed on our income. When we all move back to MO to avoid double taxing, how's that going to work out for the IL economy.
