POL, Mayor Daley admonishes Alderman "Ike" Carothers

h/t Capital Fax Blog
Sun Times (Scott Fornek & Fran Spielman):
At an unrelated news conference, Ald. Isaac Carothers (29th) let loose on [Congressman Jesse] Jackson, [Jr].

Carothers, who defeated a Jackson-backed aldermanic challenger in 2003, accused Jackson of being a do-nothing congressman with "an ego as big as this building" and aspiring to be "king of the world."

The vitriolic broadside unnerved Daley, who was nearby. The mayor turned to Carothers and said, "Ike, give it a rest."

What's Daley's rebuke say about the relationship between Daley and Carothers?

  • That shows you that carruthers is nothign but a peon. He is like an attack dog that the master had to calm down. He'll do anything to protect Massa Daley. It's pitiful.

  • It shows that like a lot of people, sometimes the Alderman lets his emotions get the best of him. Daley felt it was inappropriate and checked him. Nothing ulterior in this, we've all been on both sides of this conversation at one time or another.
