POL, does Barack Obama fear Alan Keyes?

Proviso Insider claims Rep. Karen Yarbrough is trying to destroy Chris Welch. PI includes the claim:
Yarbrough has confided in many Springfield insiders that she fears Welch.

Yarbrough defeated Welch by a margin of 73.3%-26.7% in the 'burbs and 78.1%-21.9% in Chicago. See Cook County Clerk and Chicago Board of Elections.

Barack Obama defeated Alan Keyes 70%-27%. See Wikipedia.

How likely is it that Keyes will beat Obama in the next election? Yarbrough defeated Welch by a wider margin than Obama beat Keyes.

Welch is the kind of opponent Yarbrough probably hopes to run against, if she has to face an opponent. He makes her look like she should be running for higher office. And Welch brings his own enemies to the election so Yarbrough gets a whole bunch of motivated volunteers without having to twist arms.

  • I posted a comment on Proviso Insider making this argument, but it wasn't approved.

  • Lame analogy, as usual. Keyes is irrelevant, so no one attacks him. If Yarbrough doesn't fear Welch, or believes him to be as irrelevant as Keyes is, why does she still go after Welch, and use her attack dogs like you and some of the obscene posters on this blog to continue to attack him?

  • Welch is an ASS says, Yarbrough does not have people make comments on th blogger. What Welch does not seem to comprehend is that he was DESPISED by many people before he tan against her. Welch had enemies before Yarbrough, but now Welch has made Yarbrough seem like a saint because he is such an ASS.

  • Welch is not an Alan Keyes. Your analyis and comparison is way off base. Yarbrough won because of Speaker Michael Madigan. Madigan owns Yarbrough after saving her in March. In Springfield, everyone is aware of exactly what happened in that race against Welch. Also, I don't think it's fair to call Gene Moore's enemies Welch's enemies. I think Welch is going places, and I think Yarbrough knows it.

  • This is a hoot. Madigan "saved" Yarbrough? What a joke. Yarbrough didn't trick people into voting for her. She does an admirable job as a representative and the people all 73% of them voted for her. What this blog doesn't get is ultimately the voters have a say at the end of the voting day and they made their choice.

Madigan supported Paul Mangeri and guess what...the people chose Alexi Giannouis. Get this-- the people choose their leadership ultimately, every time. No tricks just votes. Get it.

  • Why is everyone still wasting thier good time and comments on a washed up lawyer like Welch. the people spoke in the last election just like they are going to do in this next school board election in 2007. Welch and moore will try to keep the control of proviso but the game is over. No moore political machine in this township. Thank you Mrs. Yarbrough for giving us hope again. your democratic party is about people, not jobs and money.
