I'm about to turn into a pumpkin, so I'll post more later.
Did you attend the Tuesday night community crime meeting? What did you think?

Did you attend the Tuesday night community crime meeting? What did you think?
[UPDATE: Stuff from the meeting:
1. If you want a speed bump in a Forest Park alley get 51% of the neighbors to sign a petition.
2. When you describe someone suspicious to the police Lt. Tom Aftanas recommends starting with the head and working down. Also, if the police are responding to a call it helps to know in what direction the suspect was traveling.
3. Many of the complaints by community members were about nuisance neighbors and rude children & teenagers.
4. The state facility that processes fingerprints is deluged with requests, so it sometimes takes awhile to process prints on a property crime. The example was given of Officer Young Lee getting a print in May, 2005, but not making an arrest until May, 2006 because of the delay in processing the print. The burglar has plead guilty and has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
5. The idea of buying cameras for enforcement of red light violations had some support from the audience. Mayor Calderone favored a “go slowly” approach.
6. Sen. Kimberly Lightford recently obtained a $50,000 grant for Forest Park to work on bullying issues.
7. A crossing guard who volunteers with the neighborhood watch program suggested crossing guards be given some sort of communication device to report happenings to the police.
8. As I was leaving there were some questions asked about animals trapped by the village. The village representative said state law requires the animals be destroyed for most species.

How can you turn into a pumpkin when you already are one?

I must not reside in the crime prevention meeting location standard and did not receive an invitation. Wonder when the one for my blocks will be coming. So far have not made the cut.

For the real scoop on Proviso Township politics, visit ProvisoInsider.blogspot.com

to proviso insider: Okay, I went to that site. Seems like that site is biased on one side just as much (if not more) than this site. And my question was about Forest Park's community crime prevention meeting, not the in-fighting between certain groups at 209.
Also notice that that site has to approve the comments posted. Free speech?????

Forest Parker, don't confuse free speech with comment moderation.
There are some strong idiots on both sides of every issue and without comment moderation you end up a freekin free for all which is what happens on here and forestpark.com (you know the one you write on)
I like to think of it as responsible seech which is something you should look into.

All respectable blogs moderate posts for content (e.g. Capitol Fax, Eric Zorn). Only the despicable lowlifes who run Probe and FP.Com think unfounded accusations and discussion of people's sexual lives is the same as constitutionally protected speech.

Capitol Fax Blog doesn't moderate comments.
Zorn didn't moderate and now does.
I'm not sure but I think it was some Proviso fighting that convinced Zorn to switch to moderated comments.

Capitol Fax absolutely moderates comments with a posse. Rich Miller has weekly comments about posts that get deleted because of their obscenity. As usual, Nyberg has his facts wrong. Rich Miller won't even let this blog get linked to his because Miller has noted how unprofessional and unethical it is.

Just take a look at Capitol Fax now. He won't allow any comments to be posted during the weekend so that he can get a chance to review them before they go up. This is so easily verified that it's scary how Nyberg would feel comfortable telling a bald faced lie. Carl, why do you insist on getting the story wrong to justify your filthy and unethical blog.

Five of seven days Capitol Fax Blog doesn't moderate comments before they appear online.
I can find plenty of the big dog blogs that don't moderate comments.
Of the big national blogs I link, Whiskey Bar doesn't take comments. Informed Comment moderates. All the others don't moderate comments.
Are people rude to each other on Proviso Probe? Yep.
Are people rude to each other in Proviso Township?
I didn't manufacture the rudeness. I found a way to gather it all together.
But I'll bite, what makes Proviso Probe "filthy and unethical"?
By Carl Nyberg, at 3:36 PM, October 01, 2006
You know better than that,ForestPark.com routinely deletes improper posts regarding people's private lives.
By Anonymous, at 9:09 PM, October 01, 2006
Capitol Fax Blog links to Proviso Probe on average every four to six weeks.

Drop it Nyberg - you got busted lying, again. You're so full of it - you'd be perfect in the Bush administration.

Hey does anyone think Carl looks like Beetle Juice?

forestpark.com is a joke. The administrator decides who can say what and when because he's a loser who has no control over anything in his own life so he controls a group of losers who have nothing better to do than talk to each other behind avatars and bitch about everything in our town. They are all a joke. While the rest of us are out enjoying the many different things to enjoy in FP, they are at home wallowing in their misery over their keyboards...pathetic.
