rant about girls playing baseball and the electric car

I never saw the documentary Who Killed the Electric Car?. See Wikipedia for more info.

But it seems like that if a Black man can get elected President of the United States and a 16-year old Japanese girl can get drafted to pitch professional baseball (see International Herald Tribune (AP)) then somewhere in the United States or the international capitalist system there ought to be money to invest in a promising electric car (Tesla Motors).

Rich people invest money in shitty movies that lose money all the time. Surely after the Republicans pushed through all those tax cuts for the wealthy the rich are going to invest their money in projects that uplift society, right? It's not all going to be spent by the next generation of Paris Hiltons, right?

I was hoping to find some video of Eri Yoshida pitching. I didn't find one, but I did find this.

It's time for Welch and co. to own their failure

Between 1:30 and 1:40 into this video there's a quote from Senator President-elect Barack Obama, "George Bush and John McCain have a lot to answer for. It's time for them to own their failure. It's time for us to change America."

After eight years of George W. Bush being President of the United States, the voters got sick of lies and failures and voted for change.

Emanuel "Chris" Welch has been on the District 209 board of education for eight years, most of the time as president of the board. Will the voters of Proviso decide after eight years it's time for change?

Chris Welch and his allies have a lot to answer for. It's time for them to own their failure. It's time for us to change Proviso.

There's a website inspired by Obama's words, Own Your Failure. What failures should Welch own?

BTW, the Forest Park Review has an editorial criticizing District 209.

Proviso legislator to be Obama Chief of Staff

Congressman Rahm Emanuel (D-IL05) represents Melrose Park in the U.S. House of Representatives. President-elect Barack Obama has tapped Emanuel to be chief of staff. See James Pethokoukis (U.S. News & World Report).

Emanuel is exceedingly disciplined.

Emanuel is from the Democratic Leadership Council wing of the party. The DLC supports so-called free trade agreements, like NAFTA and the World Trade Organization. This is part of the DLC's larger pro-business agenda. The DLC advocates Democrats not look weak on security issues by advocating for military spending and supporting a hawkish foreign policy.

These are all aspects of the Clinton administration I grew to question.

Encourage people to vote; how was your experience voting?

A couple videos posted on Daily Kos.

We've got a bunch of new voters. Some of them need to know where their polling place is.

It took me about 35 minutes to vote this morning. When you go to vote, leave enough time.

The ballot layout is confusing on the question of the Constitutional Convention. The Con-Con question is to the side. It's easy to miss because of all the text associated with it, the fact that there are no candidates in the column and the column is a different width.

If you have feedback on your experiences voting you can post them here or at Capitol Fax Blog.
