F07, Forest Park election results

Cook County Clerk has the results.

With five of twelve precincts reporting:
Theresa A. Steinbach 319 30.04%
Patrick J. Doolin 207 19.49%
Anthony T. Calderone 536 50.47%

[UPDATE: Final results:
Theresa A. Steinbach 738 29.66%
Patrick J. Doolin 456 18.33%
Anthony T. Calderone 1,294 52.01%

Vote total: 2,488. Forest Park Review (Josh Adams) says the 7,987 voters are registered in Forest Park. This would make voter turnout 31.1%, which I consider high for a local election primary.]

[UPDATE2: Rockford Register Star wrote about voter turnout. In the coverage area turnout ranged from 4.8% to 23%. So Forest Park voter turnout was exceptionally high considering the type of election.]

  • Droolin Doolin loss because people could read him and realized his message was about hate and destruction, just like his campaign managers MO Manzo!!!
I guess Manzo has no power in Proviso! Manzo is delusional,he thinks he elected mazzulla, and Kathy"the drunk" Ryan, and both stuck it up his fat, stealin, lyin Arse! Now he is supporting that bum,Jesse "Ben won't allow to run in 99% hispanic Stone Park" Martinez, who thinks people care what he says or does in Melrose Park! NOT!
Yarbrough,Flowers and Kelly are toast in April in the school board elections.Welch is the champion!!!

  • If this was a heavyweight prize fight they would have had to have called the fight in the first round! Droolin Doolin was kncked out by Calderone and Welch! Manzo and Doolin don't know what hit them!!!
I guess if your scoring these battles it would be,
    Welch 8
    Manzo 0
Hey manzo why don't you try to run for dog catcher in Oak Brook! Your campaign slogan can be "since I can't afford to live in Oak Brook,I live in my mother in laws basement and I'll have time to catch all the stray dogs in town"!!!!

Periaca and Manzo were kicked out of the Cook County Republican Party by Jim Perelli
    Doolin was crushed
    and in April,
Manzo's tickets will lose in Westchester,Melrose Park and
    district 88,89 and 209!

Manzo should call Carol Marin to see if she could find him a job as a paper boy for the sun times in Oak Brook!!!
I guess Coglinese,Luciano,Welch and Serpico kicked your ass tonight. Now just wait for April for your political funeral!

  • Yarbrough= Committewoman and State Representive

Welch= President of Proviso Township HIGH SCHOOLS school board ranked 90 out of 90

Who kicked Welch's ass in March 06? YARBROUGH

Welch is the champion of loose leaf paper and pencils. It's a high school. HIGH SCHOOL! REPEAT AFTER ME, HIGH SCHOOL WELCH!

  • Question: How and when did Welch get into the Italian click. Welch is as black as smute. Wake up Welch! You are not Italian and you will never be! The Italian mayors are using you like a prostitute on heroin. They stick together unlike you and Moore! They laugh at both you Coons! Where were the Italian mayors when Yarbrough beat the shit out of you? They might help you for this school board election, but when it is your turn for re-election you get NADA! It's already in the making to destroy WELCH FOR GOOD in two years.

Welch is nothing but a MOOLEEEEEEE!

Is Welch even permitted in Stacys?

    GET OUT OF HERE MOOOOOLEEEEEEE!

  • What a JOKE you are for scoring Welch 8
    Manzo 0

How about the real score. not predictions.

Welch spent $265,000.00 on a race for Rep. and lost

    Welch fired from SD88 twice

Welch fired from Sanchez & Daniels

Welch lost a case against Nyberg for defamation

Welch lost his fiance due to his bi-polar attitude

Welch lost his second fiance due to his abusive slaps and Hillside incident

Need we go on for you. and this is all in one tear.

Keep up the good work Manzo.

  • What did Welch do to help Calderone?

By Blogger Carl Nyberg, at 7:01 AM, February 28, 2007

  • I'm a bit surprised.

I thought that Mr. Doolin had presented himself as such a thoughtful candidate at the meetings -- I was sure he would still be in the race this morning -- so I have to confess -- at the last minute I decided to vote for Ms. Steinbach --- just to
offer her some encouragement -- as the one candidate who, having
nothing else to gain, seemed to be running out of an passionate dedication to her old neighborhood (my neighborhood!)

Many good things could also be said about the incumbent -- but I do think it's very important that he not have a rubber-stamp majority on the council - and I hope that, over the next few weeks, you'll help to
identify which candidates for commissioner would best fill the roles played by Doolin and Steinbach over the past few years.

  • i CAN'T BELIEVE HOW BAD DOOLIN GOT HIS CLOCK CLEANED.

STEINBACH ALSO BEAT HIM IN EVERY PRECINCT BUT FOR ONE WHERE THEY TIED.

    DOESN'T SAY MUCH ABOUT DOOLIN.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:34 PM, February 28, 2007

  • THEY VILAGE DOES NOT NEED ANYONE TO FILL THE SHOES OF DOOLIN OR STEINBACH AS THEY HAVE BEEN OBSTRUCTIONIST'S.

THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TAKING THE OPPOSING SIDE/STOPPING PROGRESS AND BEING OBSTRUCTING.

I DON'T BELIEVE THIS VILLAGE HAS EVER HAD A RUBBER STAMPING BOARD.

JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE AGREE ON THE BETTERMENT OF THE VILLAGE SHOULD NOT BE CONSTRUED AS RUBBER STAMPING. THAT IS AN UNFAIR CHARACTERIZATION.

WE NEED POLITICIANS WHO ADMIT THEY ARE POLITICIANS AND THOSE WHICH CAN HAVE PROFESSIONAL DEBATE WITHOUT MAKING IT PERSONAL.

YOU CAN HAVE DEBATE BUT ALSO AGREE AFTER SHARING EACH OTHERS THOUGHTS, I DON'T CALL THAT RUBBER STAMPING.

  • ......AND TO CHRIS MILLER I THINK THE INCUMBANT MAYOR HAS LIVED IN FOREST PARK HIS ENTIRE LIFE.

    DID YOU KNOW THAT?

    DO YOU KNOW HIM?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:41 PM, February 28, 2007

  • Yes, JBWB, I know the mayor -- I like the mayor -- and if I thought that he was going to get badly beaten, I probably would have voted for him (again). (I like to vote for underdogs -- if it looks like they've done anything to deserve it)

Regarding the other issue that you raised, it's hard to call a legislative minority "obstructionist".

Their votes can't block a measure -- all they can do is help bring it to the public's attention -- and if the council majority is sensitive to that attention and backs off -- I think everyone has been well served.

Isn't the "homes for parking lots" an example of that ?

By Blogger chris miller, at 10:35 AM, March 01, 2007

  • Regarding "rubberstamps" --- wouldn't a commissioner's voting record be a test for that?

So... what about Commissioner Hosty, for example ?

How many times has he voted against the mayor in council ?

(BTW - that's not a rhetorical question -- and I'm hoping you can answer it, JBWB -- because I don't know the answer)

By Blogger chris miller, at 11:00 AM, March 01, 2007

  • WELL CHRIS ALL ONE NEEDS TO DO IS WATCH THE COUNCIL MEETINGS ON FRIDAY NIGHT, OR ATTEND THE COUNCIL MEETINGS.

I'M CERTIAN HOSTY AND GILLIAN HAVE VOTED AGAINST THE MAYOR. HOW MANY TIMES I DO NOT KNOW.

HOW MANY TIMES DOES IT TAKE BEFORE PROGRESSIVE ELECTED OFFICIALS ARE STRIPPED OF THIER BADGE OF BEING A RUBBER STAMP?

I AGREE WITH YOU THAT THE MINORITY SHOULD BE HEARD AND THAT THE MAJORITY SHOULD RULE AS IT HAS BEEN OUR FOUNDING DEMOCRACY.

I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH DECIET.

IN REGARDS TO THE TAKING OF HOMES THE MAYOR SAID THAT ALL 4 COMMISSIONERS WERE IN FAVOR OF PURCHASING HOMES TO MAKE WAY FOR PARKING BUT THEY DID SO BEHIND CLOSED DOORS.

NOW THAT I HAVE HAD TIME TO LOOK BACK AND TO SPEAK WITH OTHER PEOPLE ABOUT THE SITUATION I NOW UNDERSTAND THAT DOOLIN AND STEINBACH USED THAT CLOSED DOOR OPPORTUNITY AS A MEANS OF DECIET. WHY? BECAUSE IT WAS BEFORE THIS FIRST ROUND OF ELECTIONS AND THEY SOUGHT THIS OPPORTUNITY TO ONCE AGAIN TARNISH THE MAYORS REPUTATION.

STEINBACH HAS A LONG RECORD OF LYING TO DECIEVE THE PUBLIC. THIS IS NOT THE TYPE OF CHACTERISTIC I WANT IN OUR MAYOR.

I'M OK WITH A DIFFERENCE OF OPINION BUT ONLY ON A PROFESSIONAL LEVEL. WHEN YOU DISAGREE WITH A MOTIVE OF USING IT FOR ELECTION PURPOSES I STRONGLY AM AGAINST THAT APPROACH.

I HAVE NEVER KNOWN THE MAYOR TO LIE. I MAY NOT ALWAYS AGREE WITH HIS POSITION BUT I KNOW WHERE HE STANDS AND THAT INCLUDES NOT LYING.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:39 PM, March 01, 2007

  • Regarding "rubberstamps": If a commissioner voted against the mayor more than 10 times in his tenure, I'd let him (or her) off the hook -- and I hope eventually someone provides us with data.

Regarding "lying": The fact that two people now disagree about what once happened behind closed doors doesn't mean that one of them
has to be a liar -- and regardless, we're in no position to figure it out (it's he said-she said).

The mayor's team made a proposal that included the option of eminent domain -- for which I am disappointed -- and the first commissioners to publically voice their objection get my gratitude for a job well done.

  • Voting against your leadership is much more significant when your leadership loses.

The last vote I remember Hosty and Calderone differing was over the Elgin property proposal where Calderone voted against the proposal with Doolin and Steinbach and Hosty stuck to his guns.

  • I approved the post, but then I read it entirely. It contained comments about a public figure's body and therefore was deleted.

By Blogger Carl Nyberg, at 11:14 AM, March 04, 2007

  • Carl, could you refresh my memory regarding the salary of the FP mayor?

I remember it recently got raised -- but I can't find anything about it on the web.

By Blogger chris miller, at 9:46 AM, March 05, 2007

  • And do you also have any information on the village budgets over the past 10 years -- like what was the total v income/expenses in 1996 compared to 2001 compared to 2006 ?

(and where the changes mostly came from ?)

These just seem to be things we ought to know going into this election.

  • I started a new discussion of Chris Miller's questions.
