ADMIN, Proviso Probe taking advertisements

I have been inspired by Arnie Bryant's "Viewpoints From the Other Side" (Saturdays 2-3 PM on WJJG, 1530 AM) to take advertisements on Proviso Probe.

If you know any businesses you think would like to advertise, please mention them in the comments or send me an email RadioNyberg circled "a" Yahoo spot c0m.

  • As a candidate for public office, wouldn't taking ads pose an ethical dilemma?

  • How would selling ads on Proviso Probe be more of an ethical dilemma than political fund raising?

I'm not saying that you're wrong, but I'm curious about the logic.

But there's also the issue of editorial policy.

Like every other publisher I will say that the advertisements don't affect the editorial policies.

To make this claim true a publisher should have a well defined editorial perspective.

And the publisher should have a broad base of advertising. A newspaper with many advertisers of various political persuasions is in a stronger position to take principled editorial positions.

Newspapers with only a few advertisers or advertisers that are all aligned with one political faction have to show more deference to the advertisers sensibilities.

  • I see from Nyberg's response that he practices situational ethics. If someone he doesn't like politically does it, then it's unethical. If he does it, he can rationalize it.

Everyone has seen on the blog author call out public officials on trumped up ethics allegations for far less than this. Here's the answer to Nyberg's question: It's unethical because those "advertising" funds will be used to buy influence on this blog and if you are elected as a commissioner. Nyberg, you are in a glass house of your own making, because of your baseless and reckless allegations against others, you cannot now have any standard for yourself other than NEVER accepting money from ANY person or business. Nyberg, consider that the next time before you try to ruin honest, hardworking people's reputations.
