BUSINESS, providing job seekers Internet access
I thought a basic computer skills class at the Forest Park Library today.
One of the women in the class had tried to apply for a job at Loyola Hospital. She had been told to check job availability and apply online.
I've witnessed other people coming to the library to apply for jobs online. Some of these jobs require no computer skills. The reference librarians are helpful, but have other patrons to assist.
It seems like there should be centers for helping job seekers to apply for jobs online. It seems like there should be multiple levels of service. Some job seekers need significant one-on-one help; some merely need access to a computer connected to the Internet.

The unemployment office has computers available for online job searches and such, and they have people there who will provide as much help as you need.
