POL, District 209 hypes local politicians [D209]
I'm not a big fan of politicians putting their names all over signs that are supposed to serve the common good. Oak Park-River Forest High School has a sign and I've never seen a single politician's name on it, including school board members.
Am I being unfair to Mayor Calderone to wonder if his name went up on the sign before or after he said it was OK for District 209 to renege on its agreement not to hold summer school for Proviso East and Proviso West students at PMSA?

I went by Proviso East the same evening. I didn't see any politician names on East's sign, including school board members.

What a crock of shit it is to see our school signs be used by Welch and Libbka and Calderone and Flowers to smack there names asll over our school signs!!!!
Welch is a piece of shit since day 1 and any other politican who allows there names to be used is also a piece of crap! I hope at the next board meeting this is put on the agenda and voted on to stop allowing these corrupt, and ignorant so-called poltiicans from using any school property material or signs to put there broke names on it!!!
Let's see what Flowers does!

There's something extremely weird about these signs.
We all know that Chris Welch runs the school board. He calls the shots and makes the decisions at all costs.
And we all know that Chris Welch despises Dr. Charles Flowers.
Why would Chris Welch allow an opposition board member to have his name on a sign that he controls?
It dosn't make sense...
There's something more to this sign than meets the eye.
Very peculiar... Any thoughts?

Yea, what's going on is either Welch is trying to bloody Flowers, by painting him as another corrupt, egotistical maniac, just like Welch, or Welch is trying to cut a deal with Flowers on Power sharing.
What Flowers does over the next board meetings , will show us what is really happening. If Flowers is really trying to reform the schools and save money for the school district, he will add on the agenda, not only removing names of these politicians from the school liturure and signs, but also stop the waste and fraud and abuse of school board members having the taxpayers pay for there cell phones. If Flowers does,nt make the moves, then he will show that he's in it for the perks benifit and will show himself as Welch's twin, but with a different master!

I believe all the D209 board members appeared on the sign. I definitely remember seeing Adams. I'm pretty sure I saw Welch and Henry too.
I don't remember seeing the other three, but I didn't watch the sign for a long time.

I disagree with "follow the money"
Your assumptions and accusations seem rather baseless. There's nothing to suggest that Dr. Flowers is on the take. If so, I would like to know.
Please expound.
Also, the cell phone issue is trivial and misguided...please expand your scope and think long-term. I would think the focus would be on the Superintendent search and big money issues.
If your major concern is a cell phone...then your brain cells are not worth the typed words appearing on your monitor.

The 2 missing are Theresa Kelly and Gary Marine.
They do not appear on this sign.
That is until Chris Welch reads this posting...I'm sure he'll add them next.
That's why it's even more peculiar that Dr. Charles Flowers name appears on this sign...

Are you being unfair to Calderone? Why do you even have to ask that question? What support has he given to education that all the other members of the Forest Park village board haven't? Is this to say the others do not support education? Once again and as usual this is just another in your face, taxpayer funded campaign piece. This merry band of men continue to rob from the rich, the poor and the middle class and give to the rich and connected. I wonder if the good Mayor Calderone even consulted the rest of our village board before allowing the summer school mess at 1st & Roosevelt to continue. Even the village administrator said NO but then again, I doubt Calderone cares what anyone from Forest Park says, he takes his daily orders from Melrose. Of course then there would have had to be a public discussion at a village board meeting where responsible board members that are not in bed with the Welch's of the world would ask the hard, direct and much needed questions of these merry men. Can't have that can we?

One would think that if one board member's name is on the sign, then all of them would be on that sign...but that's not the case. Again, Gary Marine and Theresa Kelly are not on that sign.
Kind of reminds me of the Proviso East 2006 yearbook. There was only a picture of one board member...a full page picture...and yes the person pictured is Chris Welch.
There was another full page photo/ad in the same yearbook. Any guesses? Going once, going twice...Ok, this picture/ad is of Eugene Moore...with his "Vote for Eugene “Gene” Moore Democratic Committeemen" button pronounced, emphasized and in plain view. How's that for a political advertisement in a taxpayer funded school yearbook?
Would you like another example…how about the banner that is displayed during every influential game and event at Proviso East and West. The banner that states, “Chris Welch welcomes you to Proviso”. Now how’s that for shameless self-promotion for someone with political aspirations?

DUMB Libka will get hired because Welch, Henry, Adams and Madlock do not care of kids. I think it's a joke that they call themselves the Students First Party. Libka is a nice guy and all, but he is not a Superintendent. Actually, he might make a good assistant under a good Superintendent, but our kids deserve a proven leader in that top spot. If Libka gets the job, I think we should storm the board meetings and demand to see the resumes of all six final candidates. Did Libka even belong in their class? Probably not. Welch, Adams, Henry and Madlock, please put Students First for a change.

District 209 has an opportunity to have a it's first real Superintendent since Eric Eversley. Greg Jackson was a joke and everyone knows it. He never taught a single class. Teachers had no respect for him, and he was a dictator with no class. He prided himself on hiring unqualified people like Gilchrist, Krause, Millon-Johnson, Moore, Novikas, Imburgia, and others because they would be loyal to him for their overpaid positions. Libka problem is he is no different than Jackson in the fact that he embraced incompetence. He didn't do anything this past year except let the inmates run the asylum and let Porter and Little steal from our kids. We need a real superintendent now. I hope the board does the right thing for a change.

I thought this post was about the sign in front of PMSA. Why is there not information about the upcoming school year on it? Why is this being used as a political sign? It should have information about the school. Not some dumb-ass politicans.
Looks like this school is going to do absolutely nothing to improve Forest Park's educational choices. Not with high school dropouts being toted on the sign (Calderone). Geez!
