I can't believe that Gary Woll, would be interviewing canididates to run for Maywood trustees after all those years of fence sitting and jumping sides!
Gary Woll is a media hog and speaks out of both sides of his mouth! First he loved Freelon, then Moore, then Elanor Miller,Rev.Porter and Sykes, than he was with welch , and now he is with Flowers and yarbrough!
Maybe he needs to step down, since he does'nt represent anyone but himself. What has Woll done for Maywood? Nothing! Under his watch the roads are worse, now you need a tank to drive through Maywood or anyother state street around it, the crime has worsened, finances have worsened and property taxes have increased to over $11,000!
When are Yarbroughs going to fix the roads? There's a Democrat as Governor, and the House and Senate are Democratic, with both Lightford and Yarbrough from Maywood in Springfield?
I guess never, until Jews,Koreans, and Arabs take the town over then something will be done! Keep on voting for Democrats who want hand outs and look where it's gotton Maywood.................Moore,Freelon ,Welch ,Flowers,Rev. Porter,Rev.Sykes,Rev. Sasso,Woll and yarbrough have become millionares ands the rest of the Town is poorer than ever!!!!
Wake up Maywood and Blacks and look who truely is selling you a bill of crap, it's the Democrats and the house Nig---s!Maywoos deserves what it has and gets, because of Moore,Woll,Freelon,Flowers,Welch and Yarbrough and Lightford and Rev.Porter!

Woll interviewing canididates for trustees is like having the wolf watching the hen house! Woll has been a trustee in Maywood for many years and his recors of accomplishment is zilch!Zero!
Woll has been allies with Freelon, rev. Porter and Sykes,Moore,Elenor Miller,Welch, Asparza, Cogliniese,Conners and now with Flowers and Yarbrough! he needs to pick a side, and stay there, because he's making everyone dizzy by changing sides so often!
His record of doing nothing and saying things to protry himself as a liberal is just that, lots of words but no deeds!
Maywood has worsened under gary Woll! The schools are the worst in Illinios, the roads(what roads) are so destroyed that you need a tank to drive through those pot holes, because a regular car driving through Maywood, gets to damaged! The crime rate has skyrocketed under his watch, with Maywood recieving the accolade as Murder Capital of the USA! Also the town is flat broke and has had to have state intervention to assist them in making there budget! The property taxes are the highest around,$11,000 average and for what ? Bad schools, crime, murder, gangs and no bussiness! Thanks to gary Woll and his progressive politics!
Why does'nt Woll and his supporters demand that there progressive friwends, the Democrats who control Springfield give them money to fix there roads plus the state roads? because Woll does'nt care and he has no agenda and has no backbone to demand good goverment from his new masters the yarbroughs and Lightford!!
Woll, along with Moore,Welch,Flowers,Rev. Porter and Sykes and Sasso, The Yarbroughs,Williams,Freelon and Conners have all become millionares on the back of the hard working people of Maywood who have voted them in, and all these poverty pimps have done is become rich themselves and screwed the town!!
Woll needs to retire and to leave our village ALONE! Yarbroughs and Flowers should be aware or else they'll be thrown to the lions, along with Woll!!!

Not a great broadcast. Little analysis and lots of opinion, none of which carried much substance. Nyberg is hard to listen to, his incessant whining and struggle to get out every word haunted me to the point where I simply had to back away and turn off my radio. Arnie Bryant was no better. Very limited range of ideas, lacking both in creativity and originality. In short, a huge bore.
Friendly advice: stick with the writing. In that medium you are both far more effective.

Sasso,Woll and yarbrough have become millionares
Is this just speculation? Or do you have a chain of events to support this claim? E.g., A led to B led to Yarbrough making $X hundred thousand.
By Carl Nyberg, at 3:44 PM, August 19, 2006
simon, what are some creative and original ideas you have or have heard on local politics?
By Carl Nyberg, at 3:46 PM, August 19, 2006
Carl,
My ideas are peppered thoughout your Blog site. I just use so many pseudonyms it's hard to track down who I actually am. That's intentional, for were I to elaborate the concern is that my true identity might become known. It's somewhat problematical.
The fear, for example, is that folk who confide in me might develop some reluctance to speak. I operate somewhat from a knowledgeable sphere in that I often come into close contact with many of the personalities that are discussed here.
I don't and won't provide you with gossip, but do attempt to point in the direction of where I think things are headed.
Take School Dist 209. You mentioned on the show a significant deficit ($28 million) and the possibility for floating a referendum as the only hope. I say there won't be a referendum, back door or otherwise. Why? The answer should be fairly obvious, but you don't seem to grasp the point.
Also, how does one make headway against so large a deficit, assuming your figure is accurate. You won't do it by cutting a few thousand here and there. The call will be for decisive action, especially in the personnel arena; action of the kind that will ulimaely pit you head to head with the union. You'll have to slash. They know it. They know it's coming.
Alan Bersin, who some regard as the "dean of the nation's big-city superintendents" is felt to hold the record for the longest running, continously led school reform effort. Bersin was so successful that he later was appointed as state Secretary for Education by Cali Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Look him up and read what happened, the split board, the contentious politics, the spirited fight with the teachers union. Bersin's play book, in many respects, will be the model 209 follows.
What's the formula? Nothing less than re-inventing the district's teaching, organizational framework, and philosophy. Create position of head of Instruction (that'll be Libka) and put him in charge of the district’s instructional and curricular program while charging himself with the political and managerial tasks of leadership.
As Bersin himself put it, “There’s no other way to start systemic reform. You don't announce it. You've got to jolt the system...and if people don't understand you're serious about change in the first six months, the bureacracy will own you".
And guess what! Welch is behing him 100%.

AHEM Simon, truely on point! I have stopped listening to endlessly garbling, whiny radio show of that egotistical, media whore Bryant!
His observations are spineless, unless he feels that the ones he attacks has no power! He never, ever attacks his own master the mayor of Bellwood and never goes against the grain in the black community, unless he feels he can make a buck! He's a cheap Ho!
He ponticifies about the problems in the schools, yet he won't run for any school board because he knows he'll lose the election, and realize that nobody cares to hear him, see him or even stand next to him because of his Foul Body Odor!
He's a bantering hyena dressed as a gorilla, who is just looking for bananas!

Who is bryant to question or critize Gary Woll? What has Bryant ever done for his community?
Woll for over 30 years has stood up to special interests and has defended Maywood from there assaults, while Bryant has also sided with "The White power broker" while trying to cut his best deal!Bryant is also responsible for Kevin Beese and Greg Jackson getting fired, yet he does'nt say anything about that.
Bottom line, "who cares what Bryant says or does".

SIMON IS CHRIS WELCH.
By Anonymous, at 12:35 PM, August 20, 2006
I'm back.
Couple things I need to address from my post of yesterday.
I typed: "Nothing less than re-inventing the district's teaching, organizational framework, and philosophy. Create position of head of Instruction (that'll be Libka) and put him in charge of the district’s instructional and curricular program while charging himself with the political and managerial tasks of leadership."
I'd like to clarify that I meant Mr. Fields as the person who'd be in charge of the "political and managerial tasks of leadership". And I expect the flow to be top-down. This would circumvent becoming bogged down in layered negotiations amongst self-interested parties. Management will probably move to a more centralized approach, at least initially.
I'm not Welch, but I stay with my assertion that Welch is behind Fields 100%.
Finally, I was somewhat critical of Nyberg's radio presence and suggested that he stick to a writing format. What I failed to do was to elaborate on just how good a job Nyberg has done with this blog.
I know of very few people that don't visit the Proviso Probe. I see the Probe as a must-read, especially for people new to the community...like teachers.
As always, you tend to find some of bad mixed in with all the good. Still, the reporting is robust and mostly sincere. Congratulations Carl.

Wow! Whatever else I am, it is not a millionaire but then some do not care for facts but innuendos. Of corse I have supported different people from various camps over my 30 years in Maywood politics. But never, with pride, did I support Paul Esparza, Eleanor Miller, Danny Boy Coglianese, Chuck Baxter or any of those totally machine-oriented characters. My only regrets, and which of you have not endorsed or supported someone who has later disappointed you, is the couple of years I stayed with Gene Moore. Initially when I really did not know him, I thought he might be a little better than most of the Melrose Park-types that had run the party for so many years. How he betrayed his trust for me and hundreds of other Maywood?proviso activists is evidenced by the election results over the past few years. Finally, I never left Mayor Joe Freelon. We campaigned for each other strongly till we all lost. It is no secret that the overwhelming majority of Gene's supporters, by the end, were either those who had been friends since, even, childhood, or those who believed in his philosohy of "what's in it for me." As for me and countless others, we were middle income folks when we entered politics and, surprise, we still are moderate to middle income!!!

Oh, by the way, what is wrong with interviewing potential candidates to run on a ticket with me? I openly advertised it in my monthly newsletter which circulates to over 900 Maywood email addresses and what could be more open than to seek folks who support the kind of progressive, professional and open government I have always sought for my community (often without much success because there have been so few solid working majorities on Maywood Boards since 1969, yes 1969!!).
