I always wondered how/why Broadview had so many policemen when they are such a relatively small community. The crime stats are not high except for retail theft. How in the hell did they afford to have some many is my question? 8500 people and 75 police?

Staffing is an issue of peak population, which peaks because of Broadview's popoulation.
Just because crime and fire stats are not "high" does not necessarily indicate a need for less protection.
The staffing levels as they stand now are dangerously low.

I have blogged about Broadview's budget problems. The village was spending more money than was sustainable. This was irresponsible. Now the piper must be paid.

I hear the chief's been pick by the mgr. (as it should be) but he's working out the contract with the party in question. I also hear that they had three very qualified individuals of which any one would be a fine choice. I hope they chose somebody out of the city. Lord's knows that the corruption that exsits with that force is rampant and you need someone from the outside.
I like Interim Chief Mobley a lot but the guys got no balls to stand up to those officers and they run over him. Even more so, people like Perkins (a simpleton trustee) is able to go into the police department and take her drug addict son out because "he's not treated nice" speaks volumes about Mobley's ability as a chief. Sad but true.
They got the great beginnings of getting something done in Maywood but too much of the "business as usual" people remain. Clean house!

I found it interesting that David Ireland, former Bellwood mayoral candidate and Eugene Moore supporter was at the Yarbrough commiteemen meeting. I wonder what he has up his sleeve?

Well it is no secret that Mr, moore has lost his self proclaimed committeeman seat to the champion yarbrough, so dave irland is just being the snake that he is and trying to infiltrate the yarbrough party, Dont worry , she is on to his ass like a fly on shit.. Broadview is going to go to shit just like Maywood.As far as the fire department. Maybe fire cheif Tierney should step down with his 100,000 a year salary. May be then bring back some firefighter/paramedic that got layed off. Chief Tierney is never there. He is a waste, he to busy working his part time job at the casino. That why his car,given to him by the village is three year old and has 50,000 miles on it. How is that when you live less than a mile from the station? He is a waste, He ran that department into the ground. There alot of good people out of a job because of him and his crappy village.

Perhaps some individuals just want to now support Karen Yarbrough since she won the election. What is wrong with that? They want to work with her. It is the right thing to do. These comments continuing .the ridiculous infighting in Proviso are the height of stupidity. In the interest of the Township, peace should be made, new supporters should be welcomed. That's politics, it happens every day. Can't you all ever stop fighting. To the rest of Cook County you look like the Middle East.
