M06, LaShawn Ford to run [8th Rep]
Riverside/Brookfield Landmark (Terry Dean) reports LaShawn Ford will run for state representative in the Democratic Primary. Rep. Calvin Giles (Dem) currently holds the office. Wednesday Journal (Terry Dean) explains Giles may not be allowed to run for re-election because of unpaid fines against his campaign committee.

The 8th district could do better but Ford IS NOT the one. He's an egoist and willnot do what it takes to address issues in the district.
His website talks about xoffenders but what has he done to help them? He has a business and could offer employment but has he?
And Carl, what's up with Dan Davis? It was a love-feast with Giles, Dan and the Governor last week at his fundraiser but his staff person Tumia is the campaign mgr for Ford. Is Danny a double-minded man or has he got an out-of-control-staffer?

I know the race is over & Ford won but I cant sit here and let you badmouth Giles like that. Giles has time to talk to everyone but his time was probably limited because he was busy trying to get money in for the 8th district. I personally know that Giles had done a lot for my community and my family. My cousin graduated from Northern Illinois Univeristy's Law school in 2005 thanks to a scholarship provided by Rep. Giles. If it wasnt for him, my cousin would not have been able to further his education. When i think of Rep Giles I think of how he got the funds to help renovate the lake & cicero "L" station &how he got the funding for the Chetwyn Rodgers Early Childhood Development Center on Washington and Cicero. So while you might think hes distant He sure wasnt distant to me when my cousin was walking across the stage to recieve his degree or when i take the L to school each morning or when I eat the turkey that he delivers to the senior citizens in his district. The ONLY mistake that Rep Giles made in his term was not being boastful about all he has done for the community . Maybe if he wouldve given you the list of all the bills he has past on improving the education system and others then you wouldve made the educated vote..I could tell you everything he's done for the 8th district from Springfield but you can look them up your self http://www.ilga.gov/house/RepBills.asp?MemberID=917&GA=94
i guess you'll eventually realize what a mistake youve made

I met LaShawn approximately 10 years ago...He has and will always be a wonderful individual who is willing to go that extra mile to help his community. He is by far the Best Choice to represent the 8th district.

Your entitled to your opinion and im entitled to mine but I can tell you that Calvin Giles is still helping people and finishing the job he started even though he lost the race. He is still helping people because he has the desire, heart and will to do so and no election will stop him from doing that. ps : You met Rep Ford 10 years ago, I met him 5 months ago at a meeting concerning the fate of Austin Community HS and you wouldnt believe how he insulted Calvin Giles. He took a meeting that was supposed to be focused on rallying to save that school and turned it into his own political stage...............
