committeeman candidates and proposed list of questions

The Cook County Clerk lists the following people as having filed to run for committeeman in Proviso Township.

Here's what I know off the top of my head. Yarbrough is the incumbent Democrat running for her second term. She's been a state representative since 2001.

Corrigan is the incumbent Republican and was elected as the Proviso Township Supervisor in 2009. Previously he was the Proviso Township Assessor.

Conteduca, a former Melrose Park trustee, was active in Jesse Martinez's campaign to unseat Ron Serpico as village president in Melrose Park in 2009.

Below is a draft list of questions I will ask each candidate for committeeman.
1.Why do you identify with your party?
2.How should constituents contact you?
3.What candidates have you supported in the past?
4.Are you active with any causes or advocacy organizations?
5.What's your quick pitch for someone to be active with your party?
6.In what ways does your party need to improve? How will you affect change within your party?
7.Will you help constituents get jobs? Who will you help? How will you help them?
8.How would you characterize the performance of schools in Proviso Township? What should be done to improve the schools? Will you attend meetings of the board of education of Proviso Township High Schools?

candidates for state legislature

Who is running for the state legislature?

Sen. Louis Viverito (District 11), Sen. Dan Cronin (District 21) and Sen. Don Harmon (District 39) aren't up for election in 2010. After the 2010 Census, the map of districts will be redrawn to balance changes in population. All state senators will stand for election in the 2012 cycle. Sen. Kimberly Lightford is running for re-election in 2010. However, no candidates filed to run against her.

State representatives stand for election every two years. However, Rep. Karen Yarbrough (7th District), Rep. LaShawn Ford (8th District) and Rep. Deborah Graham (78th District) are running unopposed, like Lightford.

Rep. Michael Zalewski (21st District) represents a district that includes (in Proviso) much of Brookfield and some of La Grange Park. See the district map (pdf).

Because the Green Party candidate achieved at least 5% of the vote in the last election for governor, it is considered a major party in Illinois for ballot access matters. It has the same filing dates as the Democrats and Republicans.

Illinois has minor parties. These minor parties have to submit more signatures than major parties and they have different (later) filing deadlines.

Michael Labno of Oak Brook has expressed intent to qualify for the ballot as a Libertarian Party candidate. See his Facebook page.

Parts of Proviso Township are included in four Congressional districts. IL-07 is currently represented by Danny K. Davis, Chicago (Austin). IL-03 is currently represented by Dan Lipinski, Western Springs. IL-05 is currently represented by Mike Quigley, Chicago (Lakeview). IL-04 is currently represented by Luis Gutierrez, Chicago (Logan Square). All four members of Congress are Democrats.

The following candidates filed to run for the U.S. House of Representatives. Candidates who intend to run under party labels aside from Democrat, Republican, Green or "independent" will file at a later date.

The IL-07 race is made more complicated because the incumbent, Danny K. Davis, has filed for two offices that are mutually exclusive, re-election to Congress and President of the Cook County Board. He has until ___ to withdraw from one of these contests (or both).

Last time I saw Lula Greenhow was when Rep. Karen Yarbrough organized a demonstration against the Player's Ball being held in Maywood. Greenhow was a counter demonstrator. So she was basically spending her time demonstrating for the rights of pimps to hold their annual gathering in Maywood.
