Sterk v. Proviso Insider covered in Sun-Times
Sun-Times (Steve Patterson) reported on Mark Sterk's lawsuit against Proviso Insider.
I wrote about the case in some detail on Prairie State Blue.
BTW, when I talked to Sterk about the case he seemed pretty upset. He seems determined to inflict some payback to "John Doe", aka "Proviso Insider".
[UPDATE: Proviso Insider responds with... just read it. It's funny.]

I have no doubt that Odelson & Sterk will find somebody to pursue at the Insider. Whether it's the real behind the scenes person, or a scapegoat, remains to be seen.

Hmmm... Will new case law be written? Perhaps Eugene Moore should sue Nyberg based on defamation and frivilous post re endictments

Life is so much simpler and enjoyable when you are not a named defendant in a defamation action. You can be sure that whoever is responsible will be identified, and they will not enjoy the process. Of course, if they are as connected as some suspect, their legal tab and any judgment would no doubt come out of somebody else's pockets.
The whole thing could have been avoided with the careful use of words. Stupid move on the Insider's part.

CCC-
This suit will draw far too much attention for the moron who posted that libelous accusation ay Odelson & Sterk to pass the bill off on D209 or any other taxing body.
No way in hell this goof- Welch, whoever, can pass this nonsense off as anything other than their own misjudgement, and thus responsibility.
Like to see 'em try, though.

Here's the thing. Whoever posted that slanderous statement may never be discovered. That's why s/he can reiterate the mocking comments about Odelson and Sterk in a recent posting on The Insider. There are many ways to remain anonymous on the WWW not the least of which is going to internet cafes or using anonymity software such as Vidalia. Watch, Odelson and Sterk will come up empty-handed and the suit will be unceremoniously dropped.

The defamation suit is a serious matter indeed. The comments on the Insider clearly injure O&S in their business or profession and impute the commission of criminal conduct. The comments are therefore considered defamatory per se, which means O&S are not required to prove actual damages (such as a loss of income, etc.). The law assumes they have been damaged. Another interesting note: O&S are not representing themselves -- they have retained a prestigious, old-line firm to represent them. Justice Stevens was once a member of that firm.

a rumor about FBI and Eugene Moore
The FBI was investigating Eugene Moore for illegal activity in connection with his role in "investing" the Maywood Police Pension Fund before the September 11th attacks. The source speculated that the FBI agents conducting the investigation were pulled off the case to do 9/11 related investigations.
Happy 9/11 anniversary, Gene.

I am really scared for Welch,Brian Cross and Don Sloan. Imagine having to go to trial and having to admit the truth, my that will cost them lots of money and possibly cause them to lose there jobs!

Many people have speculated that the Insider is probably Chris Welch, along with Sloan and Cross. Also supposedly involved and rumored has been Nicole Trottie,Mayor Calderone and the bussiness manger from 209.
What will happen once these folks get exposed????

Just asking... don't you think said indivduals, Trottie, Calderone, etc. have better things to do?
Give me a break
