As of 4 PM--an hour before the deadline--the following individuals had filed to run for commissioner in Forest Park. On February 27, 2007, there will be a primary. The top eight candidates will appear on the ballot for the general election in April. The top four vote getters will be seated as Forest Park’s commissioners in May.

* Hosty (incumbent)
* Curry
* Plepel
* Tellalian
* Hoskins
* Webster
* Scafidi
* Lazzara
* Nyberg

[UPDATE: I have checked and I was the last candidate to file.

[Also, I neglected to mention the candidates for mayor. The following candidates who had all announced their candidacies in the Forest Park Review filed to run.

* Calderone (incumbent)
* Doolin
* Jackson
* Steinbach

[End update]

[UPDATE2: Looks like Scafidi and maybe Jackson are off the ballot. See Forest Park Review (Josh Adams).]

  • You have got to be kidding.

    Well at least he would have a job of some kind.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:53 AM, December 19, 2006

  • I suppose Carl could just sit at a computer and anonymously post sarcastic remarks like you bbbwwwaaahhh and contribute nothing to his community. Or, he could put himself in the race and actually attempt to make a real contribution to his community. I think this is great Carl. Good luck to you. You have my vote!

  • Forest Park does not need a radical leftist we have seen enough in Doolin and Steinbach, we have had enough.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:14 AM, December 19, 2006

  • Don't know what the outcome will be but it will certainly be an interesting vote this time around. Except for Hosty, all new blood. That's good.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:16 AM, December 19, 2006

  • Radical Leftists? Doolin and Steinbach? How ridiculous.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:46 PM, December 19, 2006

  • Why tony, why? said...
    I can't believe it, Chris Welch and Tony Calderone both blogging on the insider! My, My, how do you guys get paid???
    I knew about Nicole Trottie working for the Insider and Don Sloan and Brian Cross, but now our Forest Park Mayor and he is working with Chris Welch?? Unimaginable!

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:58 PM, December 19, 2006

  • Don Sloan and Brian Cross are licking there chops for this next election cycle! Sloan and cross will be very busy,with there army of 89 and 209 janitors, working the field campaigns for Tony Calderone in Forest Park, working hard to beat Kelly and Flowers in 209, supporting the status quo in 89, working to beat Welch's opponenets in 88 and running the campaign for trustees in Westchester. Don Sloan plans to show Proviso that nobody can win without his support and army!
    Sloan's a powerhouse!!!!

  • You have my support Carl. Where can we offer financial support?

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:10 PM, December 19, 2006

  • What's this I hear that Calderone had his people checking out Nybergs Signatures...

    Hmmmmmmmm

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:41 PM, December 19, 2006

  • Good luck Carl. I hope you are successful in your endeavor. While I don't get involved in elections, I vote and you have my vote. I only wish that you would run for District 209 school board. I would like a clean sweep on that board. Why are you not running when you know this cesspool so well?

  • I know Calderone personally and he is not checking anyones signatures you moron.

    But hey what can you expect on blog sh&t especially here.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:20 PM, December 19, 2006

  • And by the way, neither Calderone or any of his people are checking anyones signatures, but are you suggesting that they should?

    Does Nyberg have problems with his, we can get right on it if you like.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:22 PM, December 19, 2006

  • Carl

    In the Article, you are listed as a former Columnist for the Forest Park Review

    Did they finally figure out that you are too insane even for the review?

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:52 PM, December 20, 2006

  • I resigned from the Forest Park Review before filing my paperwork.

    By Blogger Carl Nyberg, at 3:26 PM, December 20, 2006

  • Did you resign before you would have been fired?

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:30 PM, December 20, 2006

  • I here one of Steinbach's minions FOI'd all of the candidates petition papers.

    I wonder what she is up too?

    Smells fishy to me.

    I never trusted that Steinbach anyways, always felt she is an underminded person only trying to garner attention.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:50 AM, December 21, 2006

  • The mayor can always peek at her email and find out. hahahaha

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:14 PM, December 21, 2006

  • I doubt the e-mail thing ever happened, I have heard some really terrible stories about how Steinbach lies and doesn't even think twice about doing it.

    That is a very sad case when a person lies and does so to the level that they sue the village they are elected to.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5:28 PM, December 21, 2006

  • Doubt is exactly what they count on, see how easy it is to call someone else a liar. Is that what you heard, maybe you heard wrong?

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:00 PM, December 21, 2006

  • naysayer, that's exactly the point...steinbach's m.o. is to lie to sow seeds of doubt. she has no ethics, no ideas, no clue about how to run government, and nothing to run on but lies about her opponent.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:45 AM, December 22, 2006

  • Calderone's mo, take care of your $friends$, quietly have someone else deal with your enemies, tell half truths let others assume the rest. He has taken pretend your listening with concern to new heights, it works.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:36 AM, December 22, 2006

  • Patrick Doolin was overheard after a few too many cocktails at Jimmy's Place telling Steve Johnsen how easy it will be to bury that fat c&#% in the election. I don't know what's worse, a woman who has no common sense or a bigoted sexist who hates anything that's not white and male. I hope they both lose so we can be rid of them for good, this town will be better off without them.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:45 AM, December 22, 2006

  • Candidate for Commissioner John Plepel has created a blog. Not much on it yet, but you can check it out at:

    http://plepel2007.blogspot.com/

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:11 PM, December 22, 2006

  • Carl, You know that they will be gunning for you on Tuesday, filing an objection to your petitions..

    Good luck, and you better lawyer up quickly

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:45 PM, December 22, 2006

  • From what I hear the only person who is checking petitions is Steinbach. Or at least one her minions is.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 3:53 PM, December 22, 2006

  • Calderone is also checking petitions. But instead of formally asking to look at them from a campaign standpoint he just tells Storino to do it.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:33 PM, December 22, 2006

  • I can't believe Droolin Doolin was wapping is jaw at Jimmy's place, that seems so out of character for him. NOT.

    I love going to that place it is the gossip headquarters of Forest Park.

    Have you ever seen that mope Tony Steinbach sitting at the bar all boozed up

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5:07 PM, December 22, 2006

  • I love watching the clowns in Calderones circus perform here and on the Insider. The I overheard a conversation in a bar one is the best of Calderones two act Mayoral run. Shows over "Melrose" Tony. Laugh today because April will only bring tears for you. And they won't be tears of joy. Bye Bye for now ringmaster

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:14 PM, December 22, 2006

  • I don't believe Calderone, Doolin or Steinbach would allow themselves to be overhead, at a public place, making nasty comments about the opposition. They are not that stupid. Nasty is reserved for a private audience, so quit the bs.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:34 PM, December 22, 2006

  • I cant even view the forest park web board. is anyone else having trouble?

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:07 PM, December 22, 2006

  • We love to read the Doolin cronies cry and complain because they are loosing and have been loosing for a long time.

    The Melrose thing has long outlived it's usefull shelf life.

    Sorry Doolinites we've had enough.

    That sorry story will not work anymore.

    Droolin Doolin loosing HA Ha Ha

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:41 AM, December 23, 2006

  • The Forest Park web board is a non-entity now. It's just that b#%^$ Pam Fontana complaining about everything in town. What a nasty nasty person. She rags about our cops and then wonders why she gets tickets. She thinks they should have a squad right on her street at all times to serve her every pathetic need. Get a life lady.

    As for Pat Doolin yapping at Jimmy's, he does it all the time. Johnsen too. Tony Steinbach, now that's funny. Jimmy the owner is just as bad. He plays nice with Terry Steinbach then tells everyone how much he hates her when she and her husband aren't there. He says it loudly too. "I hate that b^$#%. The only reason I deal with her is because I'm friends with Tony." That group are a bunch of back-stabbing jerks who deserve each other.

    And the foods not even great. It's the Olive Garden disguised as a hometown Italian restaurant. La Bella is sooooo much better and the food is fresher, much nicer quality.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:03 PM, December 23, 2006

  • ...and the only reason I go there is because I can walk to it after work and have a few drinks and overhear more than enough gossip. It's amazing how people let their guards down after a few cocktails.

  • Bertucci is a nice guy and is friends with a lot of people including the Mayor's wife. Is that what the Doolin camp is doing now, gay bashing? Pathetic.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:05 AM, December 24, 2006

  • It is obviously the Doolin or Steinbach camp once again at their games of disgusting bullshit.

    Now picking on the Mayors Wife?

    Doolin supporters have really stooped to a new low.

    Right on Carl Nyberg and Proviso Probe for letting the blog step even further inot the bowls of evil.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:13 AM, December 24, 2006

  • Bowls of evil? Is that like mugs of malevolence? Why do any of you feel the need to trash others to support your candidate? Are they all so lacking in substance this is the best you can manage? Forestparkforums.com is a busy, highly readable local web board.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:39 AM, December 24, 2006

  • It's hard to tell who is bashing who and who is supporting who.

    It seems to me to be good ole fashion mud slinging.

    To pick on candidates or elected people is one thing,,,, but to pick on their family is OUT OF BOUNDS.

    FILTHY AND DISGUSTING.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:54 AM, December 24, 2006

  • Carl wants to hold the public trust, yet he can't even enforce his own blog rules:

    "3. Don't attack people with stuff that's personal, like their sex life, unless it is in some way relevant to their public persona. Just because you disapprove of a sexual practice...doesn't make it relevant."

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:52 AM, December 24, 2006

  • What significance does the sexuality of the Mayor's wife's friend's brother's cousin-in-law's grandmother represent? NONE. Please fight fair, anything less makes the supporters of any candidate look stupid, foolish and irrelavant. Post real issues not bs.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:33 PM, December 24, 2006

  • I agree. Carl you need to delete this post. It doesn't matter what Bertucci's sexual orientation is. Leave that slop to Insider.

    It takes away from the fact the Bertucci lied in his letter to the Review. Bust him on that.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:02 PM, December 24, 2006

  • Carl believes it's okay for people to say whatever they want about anyone they want without regard. Used to think he was okay.

    No more trying to be fair with him. He doesn't care.

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:35 PM, December 24, 2006

  • unbelievable that you leave all of this innuendo and attack up here - have you no shame?
