And Melrose Park has the 25th anniversary Taste of Melrose Park. From Melrose Park Herald (David Pollard):
The Taste of Melrose Park will be celebrating its' 25th year in existence. The event will start Friday at 5 p.m., and continue Saturday, noon to midnight and Sunday noon until after the fireworks.
The festivities will take place behind Village of Melrose Park Complex at 25th Avenue and Lake Street. There will be about 75 vendors selling food and some 300,000 people are expected to attend over the weekend.
Also, if you want to participate in the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce picnic on Saturday, September 16, you need to RSVP to Betty LeClere, 485-3893, by Wednesday, September 6.

Dear Mayor Serpico,
In the past you told me I wasn't welcome in Melrose Park. You threatened to arrest me.
Can we just put that aside for this weekend? I'd sorta like to stop by the Taste of Melrose Park.
