PO-PO, cops get out of cars and walk [LP]

The La Grange Park chief of police makes officers get out of their cars and walk for own hour per beat. See Chicago Tribune (Angela Rozas).

This story is getting coverage now because of gas prices, but isn't this the essence of community policing? Villages that say they do community policing but don't have any cops on foot patrol aren't really doing community policing, are they?

  • If not on foot, at least on bicycle would help. Doesn't FP have a couple of bike riding police officers?

They should get out of their cars. When they drive, they seem to have tunnel vision anyways!
