I asked a county employee about Gerald Nichols, the patronage boss for former County Board President John Stroger. The county employee said he applied for a promotion. Nichols told him he'd need the blessing of his committeeman, a Stroger ally.
I'd like to see Phil Ponce or someone else asked Todd Stroger if he believes county government considers the applications and promotions of the non-politically connected on a level playing field with the politically connected. If Stroger admits political considerations are considered the follow up question should be, "Under what circumstances is it fair to consider political connections in hiring and promotion?"
BTW, does Todd Stroger have a campaign website?

Attorney Michael Shakman asked a federal judge Monday to appoint a monitor to oversee all hiring in Cook County government -- just as the judge has done for the city of Chicago....
[Todd] Stroger said he did not think too many members of his 8th Ward Democratic organization had county jobs or a favored status for promotions, as laid out in the Sun-Times last week. He said that a federal monitor might be as "costly" for the county as he said it had been for the city, but that he would not fight it.

I suppose that is one way of justifying the job. If Claypool had won the primary, of course no one would bother talking about the most bloated and corrupt administration in county history. Mostly because it would be history. Maybe you'd like to explain away the job of food taster next.

To the famous Proviso Guru, what's with being a proffessional apologist? Anybody with some common sense, with some regard for decency,honesty and most of all with brains, would be repulsed with the corruption in Cook County goverment!
A person who defends this, or these actions, is basically either deaf,dumb and blind, or is probably benifiting from the County in some way or form with either a job(through connections or ghost payroller)!
Your blind loyalty and reasoning for supporting the stench of Corruption in the County Goverment, just makes it easier for me to understand why the Germans did nothing to impede or stop Hitler,or the Russians with Stalin or the Cambodians with Pol Pot, or the Ughandans with Idi Amin!!!!
But Mr. Guru, we here in Proviso are fed up with corruption and cronyism and bad goverment, that is why we over threw Welch and Moore this past April and I hope that the pundits would look at the votes and understand those numbers, that nobody will tolerate this level of corruption,favoritism or cronyism again!!!!
Guru, you need to join us in stopping corruption, not perpetuating it and spreading some out dated,lame excuse why it should be contiued. What happened with your values and idealism?

provisoguru, it doesn't seem like you are "totally against corruption wherever it exists".
Should the voters do something about the existing corruption? Or should the voters merely trust that Todd Stroger will address the problem?

Is Todd Stroger the candidate of continuity? What does it mean for Cook County government to practice continuity after the election?
pg, it seems like you want Todd Stroger to have the benefits of being the legacy of John Stroger, but not the liabilities.
Realistically, if Cook County elects Todd Stroger we're probably stuck with him for 30-40 years.
If Peraica gets elected, he's got to do a great job or he's gone in four years.

You who states to be a loyal democrat, and thus by his reasoning would vote for Hitler or Stalin if they also were Democrats, why don't you get offended when Blacks steal from Blacks, like Stroger, Perkins,Rivers Welch,Kelly,Flowers and others do it?
If Stroger wants to be board President, why won't he step down from Alderman and take over the postion now?And stop with the mumble jumble responses!

To Proviso Guru, I guess your correct, if Hitler was a Cook County Democrat you'd also vote for him!I get your logic, so if Stroger told all cook county democrats that Jews were evil and that the must be eliminated and also double taxed, we as Democrats should go along and spout the Party Line, because we want to fit in so badly and be such brainwashed robots, and keep our jobs at the county!
I can see you now, dressed in your Nazi or Communist uniform, shouting "All Jews must pay double the taxes than non-Jews because your people are taking advantage of us, the weak willed,stand for no principal Democrats of Cook County , who won't question are boss and Dear Leader Toddler Stroger"!
