N06, D209 attorneys work for Meeks

Sun-Times (Scott Fornek):
Meeks’ attorney, Burton Odelson, who attended today’s news conference, said they were confident they could have gathered 50,000 to 60,000 signatures, more than twice the 25,000 needed to get on the ballot.

Since there were some posts about how Emanuel "Chris" Welch would be part of the Meeks campaign, this nugget seemed interesting.

BTW, doesn't it seem odd that the attorney would speak on the number of sigs that would be gathered? Isn't this issue more in the purview of the campaign manager and field organizer?

  • Burt Odelson and Chris Welch gave Meeks the education plan that he passed on to Governor Blagojevich. It will be unveiled real soon...stay tuned.

  • Please do not post as "Anonymous". Use a pseudonym. This enhances readability of Proviso Probe.

If more than one person is posting as "anonymous" in a discussion it becomes confusing to read the comments.

BTW, what is the problem we're trying to fix in public education?

  • Got two words for Meeks...

    Eugene Moore.

He sold his soul to Chris Welch and he ain't been right since.

Eugene Moore was the community's number one son. Literally for years, he could do no wrong. He was strong, virile, respected and admired.

My how things have changed. Since Eugene Moore has been affected by the virus known as Chris Welch...he is just a shell of a man.

There is such a thing as a "diseased relationship". A relationship where one party affects another to the point that they become susceptible to the same problems the infecting party has. In fact, making them sicker than the party they tried to help.

This was the case with Chris Welch and Eugene Moore and will be the case with Chris Welch and Meeks.

Stay tuned...this is just the beginning!

  • Not sure Carl.

Since D209 and D88 have numerous problems that are only escalating.

There is one common denomiator...Chris Welch.

Again, I'm just stating the obvious...

    You make the call...

  • Rich Miller has an entry about the rumored Blagojevich/Meeks funding plan.

The problem with the plan is that it borrows from future revenues to pay for something in Blagojevich's next term.

This is how Bush pays for tax cuts and everything else. He puts it on the national credit card.

  • Restructing lottery money was the centerpiece of Welch's campaign for State Representative. Now, the Governor is going to run his fall campaign on it. What did the Governor see in Yarborough's platform that he is using? Nothing. Insiders say that the Governor and Madigan really wanted Welch because he is a bright, intelligent, articulate attorney, but they couldn't work against an incumbent. They really liked his platform, how he presented, and thought his literature was top notch. That is why they are pushing for Danny K. Davis to be County Board President. They will then push Yarborough for Congress or Cook County Commissioner. They will then push her to appoint Welch in her place as State Rep. If she does not, they will support Welch in his next run, and they will work against Yarborough as Committeeman. Yarborough better keep her eyes on Welch.

  • I also heard that Yarborough and Larry Shapiro were so worried about Welch's campaign that they called Speaker Madigan's office every day. The Speaker does not like Karen and Larry at all.

  • You obviously don't know anyting about politics. Speaker Madigan and the Illinois Democratic Party has a rule that they pay for every other mailing for all Democratic Incumbents who are in contested elections. However, he only gives the candidates the cash. He does not know what the literature piece will be. That's why he paid for the "F" piece. You need to do your homework and see who really supports Welch behind the scene. Welch has Meeks, Lightford, Hastings, Brosnahan, Colvin and many others. Don't count him out.

  • Whoever wrote that comment on diseased relationship did a great job. Great insight and seems to be right on target.

The real welch supporter is off target.

  • Crome Dome...are you gainfully employed? Because as I view through the various comments, you always have something negative to say. What positive role and/or what feasible contribution have you provided to Proviso Township?

P.S. This is not a trick question.

  • thisisahoot ponders...

    maybe it's the heat, but...

Crome Dome, Did you vote for him, while citing him as "I'll lie and sue yo mamma"? Your message says "I did" while saying that you worked hard in your community to make sure he did not get elected.

    Split personality perhaps?

  • Why doesn't Meeks employ Black attorneys, of course not Chris Welch, but qualified Black folk.

  • Mr. Nyberg this is your last warning.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:04 PM, May 25, 2006

  • What warning? Springfield you can't stop freedom of speech. You can't dictate what people say. Are you gone sue like the WELSH did?
