MEDIA, discussing corruption on Viewpoints

Arnie Bryant has asked me to host "Viewpoints From the Other Side" on Saturday, April 22, 2 PM, on WJJG 1530 AM.

I want to use the George Ryan conviction as the starting point for discussing public corruption and our expectations.

What questions would you like to see discussed? Who would you like me to invite as guests?

  • I like this see this guy, kenny liggin invited. He lives in Bellwood. He is or was very vocal about the happening in the Bellwood area until he was arrested. Has anybody heard from him.

  • I think you should invite Mayor Calderone and Chief Ryan. Ask Calderone if he is a partner on any of the proposed new developments? I guess since partnerships and trusts are formed, we will never have any idea how much money he will receive from the Roos kickback. I won't even go into his wealthy developer friends political contributions.????

    Joe Reed. He also threatend me, and others..One should not expect to get walked over at the workplace.This spineless man hides behind the union and his political cohorts.     John Wicks is not a literal member of my family, but he has and will always be and extended member. He worked for a family member of mine for years..that does not support kinship, nor does it eliminate my capacity to earn a particular salary for my abilities..

    I am currently getting paid more than my District 88 salary by a worldwide leader in my profession.

    My release was a politically motivated by oppossition from various sources that had conflict with John Wicks. He was not bought and sold like some on that board, and thats where the conflict comes in. Some of the same sources voted for my services intially.

    It became very apparent that my morals would conflict with others personal agenda, so that is why, most of my recommendations for improvement were dissaproved..because they did not include cash disbursements or subversive activity.

    I have never had a political agenda and have always treated people fairly. As a manager, I expect an honest day pay for an honest days work..and that is not the culture at Dist. 88.

    Hello Family,

    I hope this finds all of my family in good health and spirit. This is to inform all of you that the Thurman Family reunion will be held in the great town of Bellwood Illinois on July 1st, 2006 on the grounds of Bellwood district 88 transportation lot. Located at 640 Eastern Ave across from my Board Room window. We decide to stay local this year because all of our relatives and close family friends are currently working in my school district where I just regained my position asd the "leader" again. why go out of town when we can have our family just take a three or four hour lunch like they do each day and set up tables and have a godd ole "refer smokin, gin drinkin , heroin tootin, time. And free newports to all the underage relatives who work in the kitchen at the jr. high. so see you all there .bye bye for now.

    Earlier, Proviso Probe covered how Board Member Marilyn Thurman hired a member of her household (Laron Murphy) at District 88. According to Board Member John Wicks the position was advertised as being without benefits, but after the candidates were selected the positions had benefits.

    In the same line item in the minutes the board hired Juan Lean. Proviso Probe has confirmed Lean is the live-in boyfriend of Board Member Maria Castrejon.

    I assume Illinois' conflict of interest law applies. But if State's Attorney Dick Devine, Attorney General Lisa Madigan and U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald don't enforce the law, it's like the law doesn't exist.

    This seems to be contrary to one most recent ruling before a court of law in the Ryan case. It seems as though US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald did enforce the law.

    How Carl could muze that enforcing the law doesn't exist is perplexing.

    Laws are created for purpose and reason Carl. This does not mean a simple charge meaning automatic guilt. Laws are in place to protect the innocent, and to the extent the innocent have the right to their day in court. Heresay and rumor are not automatic convictions of wrong doing. The only thing heresay and inuendo propogate is the ability for discourse to take place in the age of show business.

    An example of show business are things like blogs. They missive opinions from those who might otherwise not comment except at family gatherings or in a bar over a beer.

    In biblical writings we might find words to the effect; thou shall not cast stones onto others until ye have been stoned free.

    In a more pragmatic way, when you point a finger there are 3 pointing back at you.

    We are all taught to be carefull to judge has we shall each be judged.

    This one is truly insightful;

    We know the current political makeup in Forest Park is divided and there are 2 very outspoken elected officials namely Steinbach and Doolin who would have jumped at the chance to expose this alleged type of conduct without hesitation I might add.

    What we have seen is a dishonest attempt to tarnish reputations.

    Anytime any person enters the political arena, they become prone to criticism accused of cronyism back room deals and unethical behavior.

    While some of this may have merit, it is by far truth. Those who we elect are done so to lead and represent the masses that elect them which in a republic democracy are those in the majority; otherwise, they would not have been elected. The majority believes those they elect will perform the job they promised to do. The minority does not. Therefore, it is a natural consequence to criticize the job of those the majority elected.

    The safeguard in democracy is for the minority to be heard. If their reasoning is received by the masses then their beliefs will merge into the majority. It’s symbolic of the cognitive society we live in; which is the ability to convert or to persuade others to see your view.

  • Woman, your chewing in my ear. Just say what you mean. I do not need to tarnish the reputation of Mayor Calderone, he does that by himself. As far as the majority believing he is doing the job he was elected to do and the minority does not I say its more simplified than that..he is not performing up to par and if we were to take a "mid-term" poll on how is doing, I'm not so certain that the majority would maintain their majority status.

    Have you ever voted for someone and felt like you got scammed? That is this case for me and others.
    As far as this comment..

    We shall see how '07 turns out for Calderone. I'm not out to convert anyone, the beauty of being an American citizen is that you all have the right to vote. Landowners, businesses and renters of Forest Park. I await with much anticipation for a better turn out of citizens then what we have had in the past.

    I am not certain how you apply “par” to this argument, as the word Par is subjective conjecture. Certainly, some do not like what he might be doing and others might. This speaks to the root of my earlier comments. Those in the majority placed him in office; consequently, they must feel he is doing an above par job. Could feelings have changed, maybe, and you are correct the next election will judge your theory. I recall prior to the last elections of 2003 comments of your same nature were made then, however he ran UN opposed. What did this mean?
    All politicians are people just like us, they make mistakes too, just like us, however sometimes we place them on pedestals and expect them to never make mistakes. I have personally read articles in the past where the mayor owned up to making a mistake. I respect that.
    For me personally I judge in a more lager picture, I discount the small talk and personal innuendo and try to understand the longer-term impact of decisions made. Right know I like our community overall. Could we do things better, I suppose so but we will forever hold that pervasiveness no matter who is in that position.
    I do not quite understand what you mean by “partnership information on pending contracts” This is the first I am hearing about this. Is there some information that we can research? Is there some law being broken? Why haven’t the authorities been notified? Is was you are alleging illegal?
    These are questions that I have and unless I can get concrete answers to these and others I have not thought of yet I can only summarize this conjecture as an attempt to discredit.

    This is not an english class. Unlike you I have determined that Mr. Calderone is not doing an ethical job of running Forest Park. Too many reasons to list and could care less that you think I am trying to discredit him. He has disgraced his office and skewed the truth to benefit his agenda and has neglected more than one constituent. This is more than just one disgruntle resident, as a matter of fact its a group (and not the CuFP although they do have really good issues and are trying to better the community as well). I say what I mean, and nothing more.

    As far as research...(I asked the same question out of you in an earlier posts prove that this is untrue)...While some of this may have merit, it is by far truth. I just love how his cronies that complain about Forest Park and the Probe come here to clear his name.

    Again I look forward to 07.

  • Many of us are looking forward to "07" as you stated, however we have been tracking the many lies and rumors that have been made aginst the current administration. You are most likely one of those lie and rumor mongals. But thats ok we pray for you too.

    We understand that sick people like you live in our society and they need spiritual and emotional help, but it takes time to heal your intrinsic sickness.

    We have been working hard at spreading the word where it really counts and that is to speak with those who do not read at all some of the silly stuff on blogs like this.

    We have been holding routine meetings with gruops that have been getting larger and larger to counter act the perverted nature of the diversion of truth.

    Only time will tell and yes indeed we plan to be there in force. Until then we have no problem in reacting to the mis truths placed against the current administration.

    That got me thinking about what it takes to be a successful Mayor of Forest Park and his cronnie Administration. How do you find a replacement for a job like that; a job that requires constant lying and defense of lies completely poker faced and always maintaining the demeanor of someone who actually believes what he is saying and maybe even creating a state of mind wherein he really believes it? What type of want ad do you run for this job?

    WANTED: SOCIOPATH

    This is one description of sociopath that I found that the job recruiter can use. Seems to fit the bill for the existing FP Mayor:

    There are ten general symptoms:

    not learning from experience
    no sense of responsibility
    inability to form meaningful relationships
    inability to control impulses
    lack of moral sense
    chronically antisocial behavior
    no change in behavior after punishment
    emotional immaturity
    lack of guilt
    self-centeredness

    Don't be sad when you lose your job in '07 - The government is still looking for a FEMA director.

  • I won't be sad about loosing my job because I cannot loose a job. I'm retired. But Oh well your thought process continues to develop in a way that makes me see your true light. Stupidity might sum it up the most. I love being thought about being someone else. It makes me and my neighbor giggle.

    This is better than TV, that's why we were glad to have found this entertainment.
