POL, Democrats building strength locally
On April 29, 2006, the Democratic Party is conducting a nationwide canvass to build the strength of the party.
Proviso Democratic Committeeman Karen Yarbrough is hosting the event. You can sign-up online.
The Oak Park Democratic Party is also hosting an event.
When asked about my party affiliation I answer, "I disagree with the Democrats on about half the issues and I disagree with the Republicans on just about everything."
However, building local networks of neighbors connecting with neighbors almost always works to the advantage of regular citizens and provides a check on the potential abuses of power by insiders.
I encourage people who ID with the Dem Party--even if they only weakly identify the the Dem Party--to participate in this effort.

Congratulations to Ms. Yarborough on her committeeman victory but the work has just begun. She needs judges (don't forget to feed them on election day) and an organization of her own so she won't have to rely on Big Ed Smith.
But Proviso has spoken. Unfortunately, they forgot the old saying "You know what you have, but you don't know what you'll get." We'll all know before long cuz November is around the corner and there aren't enough jobs in all of Maywood and the suburbs to keep Big Ed and his cronies happy!

I am completely surprised that the self proclaimed champion of what's right AKA Carl Nyberg is holding a political event in a public building. This is against the law!
Nice to see Carl has a double set of standards.

Why are you so upset with Carl? Most bloggers love his ambition and initiative for politics and journalism.
