M06, Yarbrough campaign complains about Welch mailer [7th Rep]

Rep. Karen Yarbrough letter to Cook County Clerk David Orr:
I am a big supporter of early voting. That is why I am concerned with early voting information contained within my opponent Chris Welch’s latest direct mail piece.

I am faxing with this letter the full back page of that piece, which provides information to 7th Representative District Voters about early voting. The information is misleading and, in my view, calculative. The following are inaccuracies:

*It states any suburban voter can vote at the Proviso Township Office
*It implies that suburban voters can vote at any village hall
*It lists the wrong village hall hours for Maywood
* It incorrectly states that Westchester and River Forest voters can vote early at any location
* Not surprisingly, Cook County Clerk David Orr’s downtown and Maybrook locations are omitted entirely

I absolutely believe that this mail piece is a disincentive to the spirit of early voting. Misleading voters is my opponent’s cynical attempt to depress turnout in certain communities by frustrating and confusing potential early voters. Therefore your intent to enfranchise and empower is subverted by this misinformation.

Does Yarbrough have a point? Should campaigns be required to provide accurate and complete early voting information if they provide any early voting information?

  • When is Enough Enough Negative Campaigning

Through this entire process, I have not seen Karen Yarbrough Say one Positive thing or state what she would do differently for the residents of the 7th Legis District

Her People are following the same playbook that Bush and the Republicans followed in 2004, Attack, Attack, Attack, Attack

And Maybe the electorate will not notice that the Emporor is not wearing any clothes

She knows's that she's being outworked and outhustled so again, this shows that Unfortunately Ms. Yarbrough will stoop to any level to maintain her power while doing nothing for the people of the 7th Legis. District

    Karen Yarbrough,

    Have You No Shame!!!!!!!

  • This person's comments are ludicrous in light of how hard we are working and, you know what, we do not destroy Chris and Gene's signs nor do we, without permission wander down the street and place Welch/Moore signs in every yard that has a Karen sign without the slightest thought of asking anyone's permission and, WE ARE MAD at this juvenile behavior on the part of the Moore/Welch children.

  • Gary

    You are truly Blind

I drive down Fifth Avenue on Sat Morning and I see a Succession of signs Literally torn in half, Poly Core signs, torn in half,

Those must be HUGE Crows in Maywood, Eating through those signs..

Please Gary, wake up and get your head out of the sand

  • It's lucky for the 7th District that the people who really know Karen Yarbrough and how hard she is working for her constituents don't have time to blog and make up stories. Karen is one of the most dilligent and finest legislators in Springfield. Period.

Anyone who says different either simply doesn't know her record or is an underhanded supporter of her opponents who would stoop to new lows to try to retain power in order to keep giving themselves sweetheart deals.

Shame on Gene Moore: your time has come -- to go!

What does he say about the entry?

  • You got to be kidding? What is wrong with this woman?

  • Ms. Cynthia, relative almighty to Welch, the question is what in the hell does Welch have up his sleeve?
No, the question is what is wrong with the dirty, deceitful tactics of Chris Welch. He is so desperate he would sell his soul to the devil to win this race. I know how he operates. He is a liar and tries to pit Blacks against one another. He talks about being a true Democrat, but he needs to begin with being true to himself.

  • @everybody hates chris: We are already living and surviving "The Nightmare of the century" Karen Yarbrough. It is an uphill battle from here. Kiss-kiss, hug-hug...

OK - Which one of you have brought my site down?

By Blogger Cynthia, at 3:40 PM, March 09, 2006

Just for the record Cynthia and Chris are kissing cousins. If you know what I mean! LOL :)

Cynthia, most people with PHDs would not rant and rave like you have done on the blogger. With your education, why have you stooped to the level of a commoner?
Maybe you should write educated pieces, with your PHD and all, about how worthy Welch will be as State Rep. LOL! I think people would think that he doesn't just have country-ignorant-convicts in his family. SHOW US ANOTHER SIDE OF THE WELCHES! You do know what a WELCH is? Look it up, it comes from the word welsh, meaning cheat and a liar, owing someone money; to neglect an obligation. So I guess Chris is living up to his name. ARE YOU A WELCH TOO?

SEE YOU AT THE POLLS WITH YOUR PHD! I hope your PHD can vote, because "the Welsh" will need it to. LOL.

Oh, by the way loved your blog site. Maybe you should start one for the "Welsh" where people can actually post comments, because his current on will not let people post comments.

  • Re-elect Yarbrough, defeat Welch

We want State Rep. Karen Yarbrough to be a stronger voice for change in Springfield. We want her to be more visible in this district. That said, we also admire much that she has accomplished in five years in Springfield and strongly urge her re-election.

We are particularly eager to see Yarbrough win because that will assure the defeat of Emanuel "Chris" Welch in the 7th district. Chris Welch is a scary, political hack. That he talks smoothly and dresses well—qualities learned from his mentor in political hackness, Cook County Recorder of Deeds Eugene Moore—only adds to the impetus to stop him now.

Chris Welch is using a base of control that spins through school districts in the near west suburbs as his political foundation. It is where he practices cronyism and long-since discredited patronage politics. And, cynically, thousands of poor and poorly educated elementary and high school kids are the dupes in this political machination.

Chris Welch may have, inexplicably, fooled the Tribune which graced him with its endorsement. But he doesn’t fool us. And he shouldn’t fool voters.

Yarbrough is a traditional, liberal Democrat. That’s what she is. We’d like to seen more maverick, reformer tendencies. But we’ll settle for diligent, honest and decent.

Yarbrough was the chief sponsor in the House on the clean indoor air bill that has allowed all communities the opportunity to enact their own smoking bans. She is fighting against housing discrimination with regards to a buyer’s or renter’s source of income, which may include child support or a federal voucher. That bill has languished in the House Rules Committee after debate last year.

Chris Welch is not credible. He is not straightforward or trustworthy, either. He says as a state lawmaker he would outlaw his own practice of taking huge campaign donations from contractors working on projects he oversaw as an elected school official. He should already have done that as president of the Proviso Board of Education where the contractor/campaign contributor finished a project nearly $10 million over budget.

He has helped deplete Proviso’s surprisingly large budget by steering contracts and jobs to political allies, connected attorneys, overpaid public relations firms and even family members with highly questionable backgrounds. As a result, the school district’s already dismal test scores have tanked, and are now the worst in the county. Those who speak up have, on several occasions, been hit with multi-million dollar libel lawsuits (all of which Welch eventually dropped).

Welch thinks he can spin everything. It worked on the Tribune. Hopefully it won’t work on the majority of voters affected by Welch’s mismanagement and slippery shenanigans.

We support Karen Yarbrough for 7th district state representative.

    This says it all.

  • Is it true that Yarbrough has a mailer coming out on Gene Moore and Chris Welch with pictures of all the cronies they have hired? Is it true that the pictures of there political allies and soliders are on the flyer, with the pictures of Don"Ghostpay roller"Sloan, Sloan's nephew and sloan's best friend, as well as Robbins,Perelli and Cross and other assorted bums?
If anyone has seen the piece please post on the Blog!
About time we can see the pictures of all those white guys Moore has hired over minorities!
I guess they were part of the Gene Moore Chapter of the Democratic Party of Proviso or "Team" as he refers to his fan club of bums and winos!

On the left is the one for people with Blogger accounts.

On the right is the one for anonymous. Don't use this.

In the middle is the "Other" option. Select this option and use a pseudonym, preferably stick with one name.
