GOV, Yarbrough & cover acts [Illinois]
Rep. Karen Yarbrough has led in advocating for legislation to protect music performers from having others pose as the "original". See State Journal-Register (Rebecca O'Halleron).

A friend told me about this at church last night and I was astonished, With all of the problems that Maywood Has, this by far would be the least of my worries, Now I dont' know much about this Chris Welch running aginst her in March, But I am definitely not voting for Karen Yarbrough, This clearly shows that her heart is not in the right place. She should be more concenred about bringing things back to the community than protecting the rights of the supremes. We got problems of our own back home
This is a damn shame

To Brent Smith,
What a sad man you are! Rep. Yarbrough obviously has breath and depth in that she has identified an issue that helps those who have been victimized by having their intellectual property, their work, and talent stolen. When I read about this in the newspaper, I sent her a note to thank her. There are others in Springfield who have also advanced the causes of the arts. Theatre and the arts advance economic development in communities and create jobs.
While I am not a famous performer yet, I hope to one day be and not have my identity stolen by some opportunist. This bill will help not only Mary Wilson but other groups in Illinois who perform and have the right to the fruit of their labor.
