GENERAL, Thursday dump of local news
Much of this was in local papers yesterday, but I didn't want to overload you with the Wednesday dump. You are allowed to comment on stuff that's not partisan politics.
Pioneer Press (Tim Stablein) gives his take on the Pirates beating St. Joe's (boys hoops).
Pioneer Press (Tim Stablein) also has a piece on the 5-0 Panthers (boy hoops). They have a big game 7:30 Friday at home versus Hinsdale Central.
Brookfield will implement parking restrictions for snow removal. See Riverside/Brookfield Landmark.
Pioneer Press (David Pollard) has an article on Tony Peraica running for President of the County Board.
The Brookfield Conservation Commission is planning two prescribed burns in Kiwanis Park. See Riverside/Brookfield Landmark (Bob Uphues).
Maywood Herald (David Pollard) has a second article raising questions about Jason Ervin. The woman making the complaints recommended Ervin for the job a few years ago when the political landscape was different. Pollard seems to have been duped to think the Ervin hire is a signficant story. There are plenty of dubious political hirings in Proviso Township. Pollard and the Pioneer Press should devote equal attention to other hirings of the politically connected. Mr. Pollard, if you need some suggestions, contact me, RadioNyberg circled "a" Yahoo spot c0m.
Riverside/Brookfield Landmark (Chris Stach) has a story about a newspaper started in 1932 and continued into the 1980s. Maybe in 2078 the local media will have a story about a website that started covering lcoal issues in 2005.
Pioneer Press is looking for readers to contribute to a new section. I wonder if the popularity of blogging has consciously caused Pioneer Press to seek more audience participation.
I went to the Karen Yarbrough fundraiser at Excalibur last night. Actually it was a joint fundraiser with Rep. Calvin Giles. I spoke to Speaker Madigan for the first time. Coincidentally, Excalibur is next door to the lawfirm of the guy challenging Yarbrough in the primary.

Starting as soon as additional wording can be added to existing signs, Brookfield residents will be allowed to park on just one side of the street on Sundays whenever there is a snowfall of 2 inches or more.
