POL, organizing Proviso Township
A number of people have mentioned the idea of organizing Proviso Township to remove mediocre and the kleptocrats and support "good government".

Let's meet every Tuesday at 7 p.m. down on 5th Avenue at the Democratic Committeeman's office. Oops, that is one of the politicans were are tyring to oust, but can't we use his office for issues of this nature. Is his office free for pubic use? What is that office exactly used for? Is there an open invitation to residents of Proviso Township?

There is one organization like this in Proviso and it's Tony Peraica's Republican organization!He is fighting for everyone and trying to bring honest govt. to the people! He is receptive to democrats, blacks and hispanics and republicans and women!

Personally I like Tony Peraica but I am interested in returning the Democratic Party to it's core values of being Democrats with a practice of the small "d", that is democracy in running the party organization. Meantime it is unrealistic to expect a GOP organization, however well-meaning it's leadership is, to be able to do anything in Proviso Township where Democrats outnumber Republicans by, what, 5 to 1? We'll not get more education-oriented schoolboards unless the Proviso Democratic Party is run by people who believe that school board members ought to have primary interest be the students, not jobs and contracts for cronies!!

Don Sloan from Westchester has just started an organization called "Proviso Together", he has had a few meetings already and he seeks to build relationships in all the communities of Proviso!

The local chapter of the NAACP has meetings monthly and they are always about doing the right thing! Mr. Arnie Bryant is the President and he will help youmif you come to the meetings and become a member!

when's the last time you heard of the NAACP of proviso doing anything proactive except give empty awards to even more empty awardees?

Gary Woll you are absolutely correct, but this is an idealistic desire to get politicans and school board members focused on education. But it seems like the Democrats have done Proviso Township more harm than good. I am not a Republican by no means, but right now I don't want to be a Democrat.
Well, I must say that Doug you hit it right on the money. Your tatic in saying it was a little bold, but you make a point. The NAACP should have white politicans scared to move in Proviso Township, but they recieve all the awards for doing nothing in Proviso. Pasquele is praised for paving alleys, but he could care less about the school districts in Bellwood, but Bryant loves him to death. But that is not a NAACP move that is an Arnie Bryant move. We can not put the two together. The NAACP, if there is actually one in Proviso, needs to step their game up and represent. I think peoples meaning of the NAACP is like it was during the Civil Rights era, and we don't see that same represenation in Proviso Township. Doug, the name calling is useless but your point is well taken.
Mack, why would the NAACP help you only if you become a member. My knowledge of the real NAACP is that it helped Blacks and people of color who were not members also. Throughout history the NAACP was there to assist people, but now they are not in Proviso Township doing what they should do. So that means we can't rely on the NAACP. We need to create another organization or get help from a National or city chapter of the NAACP. There are other organizations that would lend their assistance to help Proviso Township. Bryant is only human and unfortunately has gotten bitten by the corrupt, self-centered politics of Proviso Township. We should pray for him and the Proviso NAACP chapter.
As for Don Sloan, I would not join his organization if he was giving away money. He is worst than Bush, Bush's father, and Bush's racist mother. SLoan only cares about Westchester and St. Joes, he could give a s&#t about Proviso #209. He wants to maintain his position in the township for as long as he can. If you have ever read the book Animal Farm, he is the pig Napoleon.
Someone needs to write a book on Proviso politics and call it Crazy Farm.

Gary Woll knows nothing about being a democrat. Big D or small d. He is a Republican through and through, and that's why he supports Yarbrough. That's also why he worked at Elmwood Park High School and Walther. A True Democrat would care more about the community he lives in. As for Arnie Bryant, that guy is the biggest joke I have ever seen. Arnie is only interested in Arnie. Hey, buy an ad on his radio show, and he's your best friend. Tell him to actually work for his money, and he tells you to #$%& off. The best group in Proviso and the one doing so much good work is the Hillside Human Rights committee! The have supported all people who are at risk for social issues, school issues and scholarships for students!They are the model of how organizations should be like, not like the NAACP of Proviso or the Don Sloan group of corruption!

Hey Carl, what is sad about Proviso is that Karen Yarbrough nor Lightford, neither of these ladies have any form of orginaztion in Proviso! Now that Yarbrough is running for her political life, she is trying to reach out to the voters, and she can't run on her record because she has none, her only hope is that the media and the bloggers beat Welch out with rumors and inneuendos!She won't even debate Mr. Welch and she has never committed herself to helping her community that is why the schools are in the state they are in!Mr. Welch is working hard to improve the schools and not once did Yarbrough or her husband , the mayor of Maywood, ever call him for assistance!Yarbrough needs to get out of the way and let concerned people takethe helm of the sinking ship to save Proviso! Yarbrough reminds me of the Captin of the sinking Titanic who stated nothing was wrong with the ship, then when it sunk he and his cronies took a small paddle boat and saved themselves, and let, children,women,senoirs and men drown in the Atlantic!Please Mr. Welch take over the Proviso Titanic and get us to shore!

Their is one group that might be intersted in helping and they are the Proviso Young Democrats, led by that 40 year old Brian Cross! He seems interested in helping and will let you watch gladiator movies with him!

That was a good one Ouch! Brian Cross is the biggest flunky. He is always on 5th Avenue bragging about the young Democrats, and he is damn near a senior citizen. I guess the whites in Elmhurst don't claim him so he has to hang out in the "hood" with the darker persuasion.
He is a white man that flunkys for Black men, go figure. That is really rare in Proviso Township, it is usually the other way around, like Welch flunks for Bruno, Serpico, Mazullo, Tamburino, Roche, Ronald McDonald, Big Bird, Captain Hook, Colonel Sanders, Mike Brady, Mr. Cleaver, and etc., just basically any White.
