bad PR for Flowers' ROE

  • It's the truth, Carl. How can you be all of cleaning up the "mess" in education, but can't even take care of your own house?

    They have no business doing compliance checks of school districts if they don't have their own **** together.

  • I would say there are at least parts of the article that unquestionably repeat allegations of people hostile to Flowers.

    For example the article includes the following.

    [Nichelle Rivers] was suspended from the job 11 months later for the way she handled an administrative matter that involved a principal storing pornography on a school computer.

    As I understand the facts, Principal Glover was caught using his district computer for porn in November.

    Rivers privately warned Glover no to do this and had IT remove the porn.

    In March, Glover was caught again. Rivers fired Glover.

    The article implies that Rivers did something wrong. As far as I can tell she did just what a reasonable supervisor does.

    She gave a warning privately and moved on to educational priorities.

    Glover screwed-up again. What's a superintendent supposed to do with a porn addicted principal?

    The article is particularly unfair from the point of view that it links Rivers with the porn. I find this unethical.

    To be accurate and fair the article should have said, Rivers was suspended after the board disagreed with disciplinary action she took against a principal.

  • What a disgrace Charles Flowers has become!
    I can't believe he has the gall to crticize others and did not pay his taxes.His profesional record is a disgrace and his lack of ability is noteworthy.
    Karen Yarbrough is responsible for his placement and his election,so are the voters of Cook County who voted for a Democrat without knowing his record or personal problems.
    I will never vote for Yarbrough again, nor will I ever vote for any other canidate she supports, because I don't ever want to elect another Charles Flowers type again!
    PS. can we remove him from office for incomptence and not paying taxes?

  • A bunch of people posted comments, but under "anonymous". I don't allow comments under "anonymous" b/c it gets confusing.

    Either title your comments when Blogger queues you to provide a "nickname" or include the pseudonym in the comment.

  • I sometimes miss that comments are anonymous.

    I tend to allow "anonymous" comments in stories about major events in people's lives. My theory is that if someone Googles "Hubert Thompson" and leaves a message about him, the person probably isn't a Proviso Probe regular.

  • You are correct carl. that whole piece on Rivers is bs. porn on school computers is out of bounds. anyone in their right mind who is a professional would have fired that joker.
    i took my kids outta that school district.
    too much goings on with alleged predators and questionable inner workings of the district
