feds take Melrose little league investigation from state's attorney

Chicago Tribune (Joseph Sjostrom):
Information from a probe by the Cook County state's attorney's office into the loss of at least $42,000 from the Melrose Park Little League treasury has been turned over to federal authorities investigating official corruption in Melrose Park.

About $42,000 went missing when Lisa Zito was treasurer of the Melrose Park little league. Zito's husband was a police lieutenant. Lisa Zito claimed Terry Serpico, the brother of Village President Ron Serpico, was responsible for the missing money.

An FBI agent involved in investigating local stuff said that five more indictments will be announced in the next few weeks. I wonder if they will be connected the little league investigation.

BTW, I'm also wondering if the feds will be looking at the possibility Dick Devine's assistant state's attorneys deliberately did a shoddy job on the investigation as a political favor to power brokers within Melrose Park.

  • Maywood,Melrose Park,Stone Park Bellwood, & Hillside:

A perfect example of how you can destroy all living life in 25 short years!

  • grew up on 50th & Oak street in Bellwood, in the 70's & 80's. My grandparents & parents worked their whole lives to try to live the "American dream". They gave their hearts & souls to us kids, & to the house that they adored. To see what has happened to Bellwood, Berkely, & HIllside makes me sick to my stomach! I recently came back to my home, after being away for 20 years. What I saw makes me extremely angry! The house that we took so good care of looks like an abandoned dump! Bellwood has been virtualy DESTROYED! It is no more that a rotten stinking ghetto! I feel like the work of 3 generations has been spat upon! In our day, we respected our neighborhood, & our schools. From the 50's to the 80's, Proviso West was a fine place to go to school, and now it looks like a warzone! All the memories of growing up in Bellwood are forever spoiled! I would be ahamed to show somebody my home town!!! You people disghust me!!! Go to hell forever!!! If you don't like this- just take a good look at yourself!
Bellwood is a ghetto --with surveilance cameras everywhere-- under the kommand of Kommandant Frank Pasquale. Bellwood is now the culmination of years of a liberal, socialistic agenda mixed with the Melrose Park/Cicero/Northlake/Stone Park/Rosemont curruption style of business supported by sympathetic black and hispanic voters (useful idiots).

  • It's very scary when our own police department seems to be committing illegal acts of violence. This coming week the village and Mayor Serpico have scheduled community meetings to discuss how we can make our neighborhood better called: Project Melrose Park: Building a Safe and Flourishing Community. The meetings will be held at the Village hall. I'm sure there will be a lot to discuss following this very shocking incident.
