Russ Stewart expects Eugene Moore challenged in Dem primary
Russ Stewart wrote about the possibility of Cook County Recorder of Deeds Eugene Moore being challenged in the Democratic primary by either State Representative Karen Yarbrough or Alderman Ed Smith.
I was sorta surprised to see the reasoning against Yarbrough as Recorder of Deeds including the possibility she'd run for President of the County Board.
My prediction: Moore is a "Dead Man Walking." He has no powerful mentor and no political base. Getting sometime Daley critic Smith out of the City Council is a Daley priority, as is keeping Yarbrough out of the recorder's office, from which she could run for county board president in 2010 or later. Expect Smith to be slated, and expect a close and nasty Smith-YarbroughMoore primary, which Smith will win. [Replaced "Yarbrough" with "Moore" b/c I think that's what Stewart meant.]

Great article, I just wonder, who'll run for the state rep. job? I think if Yarbrough gives up her seat, she won't be able to name her replacement, since she can't even take care of her supporters. Watch Yarbrough not run for Recorder of deeds, she'll stay as state rep.,since she does'nt have an army of supporters. Yarbrough will end up like Moore,a has been, because she does,nt take cARE of her people and she can't get white support!!!

On the contrary; I think Rep. Yarbrough can get white support; but she doesn't have complete support from the black community in Proviso Township or from the City's west side. She could turn out the white vote in Oak Park, and some in Forest Park, but a machine candidate like Smith could possibly get numbers out of the majority black community.

What do you mean she doesn't have an army of supporters? Her army of supporters came out and voted Gene Moore's black ass out! Also, her supporters had enough sense not to elect Chris the Welch. Her army of supporters are of all facets : black, white, latino, and asian. Don't pull that race card shit.
Wrong, Gene Moore does take care of his supporters. His secretary Sue Henry makes over $80,000 and also is a sitting board member for District 209, his son makes over $50,0000. Brian Cross makes over $50,000. Gene's "kind heart" does not stop there. Estrada's wife works for Gene Moore. Estrada is a big supporter and donater of Gene Moore. The love does not stop there; Estrada's mistress, Margret Beteast Insurance, is now Proviso's broker. Carla Williams, Gene's son baby mother just got a $42,000 job at Proviso. She was also a candidate supported and financed by Welch and Moore. She makes more than a first, second, third or fourth year teacher at Proviso. The love continues...ask Curtis Montgomery who sits on the supt. advisor committee and also a relative of Moore. His daughter works for Gene also. Well, Quinton Woods, a defeated candidate for Maywood's park district, makes pennies at the Recorder's office, but the majority of Gene's relatives and friends of friends do pretty well with their high school educations.
Chris Welch has hired his brother, mother, father, brother's baby mothers, cousins, and all his distant relatives from Michigan.
The article is not about Yarbrough losing her base, it's about how Gene Moore has lost his base. What did Stewart call him, a DEAD MAN WALKING DOWN 5th AVE looking for Chris Welch! PRICELESS!

I think that bleeding heart Oak Park Liberals have seen Yarbrough for who she truly is. Certainly the west suburban journal news story, which is still the talk around Oak Park, Forest Park and local newsrooms, shed some light on the corruption and cronyism taking place under her watch.
Yarbrough will fail in the run for Recorder of Deeds just as miserably as she and her poor choice for a candidate(s) failed in the recent 209, 89, 88 school board elections. Now that's a sign of the times - Priceless.

Headline READS:
Chris Welch and Gene Moore sentenced to JAIL.
Now that is Priceless, but I will pay anything for that to happen.

suburbun journal is no newspaper. between the misspelled word and grammar errors, it's barely readable.
DOOPERS love Yarbrough because she's responsive, delivers and is right on the issues. She and Don Harmon are a great addition to politics.
We've been aching to have responsible legislators for some time. Graham and Lightford too. Like I said, we never had it so good in Oak Park.
