GOV, District 209 changes law firms and insurance brokers [D209]

I missed tonight's District 209 (Proviso Township High Schools) board meeting.

Apparently the board fired Odelson & Sterk as the district's law firm. Giglio & Del Galdo has been hired to replace Odelson & Sterk. [UPDATE2: See this entry for Burt Odelson's critique of Giglio & Del Galdo.]

Odelson & Sterk is closely connected to Cook County Board President Todd Stroger. Cook County Recorder of Deeds Eugene Moore is an ally of the Stroger family.

Giglio & Del Galdo are allied with Melrose Park Village President Ron Serpico.

So, Serpico has outfoxed or out-muscled Moore for the lucrative legal business of the district.

Also, Moore lost the insurance business for the district. Moore had been getting $18,000 per month through his business EMM & Associates for being the district's broker of record. See Forest Park Review (Josh Adams).

A rumor from a normally reliable source says board president Emanuel "Chris" Welch has been fired by his law firm James Roche & Associates. Roche & Associates and Odelson & Sterk share many of the same clients.

Anybody have any comments or insights about tonight's board meeting?

[UPDATE: I received information that says Odelson & Sterk was terminated, but Giglio & Del Galdo was not hired last night. I'm going to confirm what happened with Giglio & Del Galdo.]

  • Look again Carl. Proviso hires three law firms. Also, Proviso lets Forest Park School rent the parking lot for $1. I thought Proviso needed money?
What deal was made for that?

What happened to the assistant principals at Proviso? They hired all outsiders. Maybe this will turn the district around rather than hire from within. This process botched the principal search at West. West was unfortunately stuck with Alexis Wallace, but thank God her blood sister was not made an assistant principal.

Did anyone notice Delester Palm's unusual behavior at the board meeting? Mrs. Wallace tackled her and shoved her into the hallway. She was crying and using profanity. Will her erratic actions in front of board members, parents, and studens be investigated by the supt.? As a parent I have witnessed Delester Palm in action as a Dean. She is unprofessional and extremely ignorant. Her sister protects her from the many parent and student complaints. I am glad Proviso hired from the outside.
A parent letter will probably follow after Palm's disrespectful behavior at the board meeting.

  • What's disturbing is that Robin Foreman and Bob Cox voted with Welch. Welch has ruined 209 and is ruining our communities.
Foreman and Cox have gotten themselves in some deep shit. Foreman and Cox need to get ready for some serious litigation.

  • I thought Proviso needed money. Why would they only charge Forest Park School $1 to rent PMSA's parking lot? Whose genius idea was this? It just doesn't make sense!

  • Rose Hartwell, you disgust me. How do you look at yourself in the mirror after ruining Don's career over a stupid email that was only a joke and was only sent to 5 people form his personal email account. Some union vice president you are. If anyone ever votes for you again, they deserve the screwing that you give them. I wonder Rose, why couldn't you go to Don and talk to him before you just had to go and play that "card" with the higher ups. You have known Don for some time. Really mature, Rose. Just remember good things happen to good peole so don't expect anything gppd to happen to you anytime soon.

  • I think whatever changes are made to District 209 have to be regarded as welcome. The district has a long-standing reputation as being corrupt so anything new has to be a plus.

  • It has come to my attention, that incoming regional superintendent of Cook County Schools,Charles Flowers has been trying to get support for an idea he wants implemented when he takes office in July. Mr. Flowers, a known hater of white people and of hispanics and asians, who blames every problem in the black community on other races, has been trying to get support to imlement a conferance, where every student in Cook County high schools, public and private, would have to attend and would be a mandatory requirement for graduation. This conferance called "The White Privilege Conference", would be a way for Flowers to get funding where he would be able to reward friends and others with speakers contracts and also push his agenda of hate ,similar to the Taliban. This idea, of copying similar programs, already given in San Francisco and Seatle, is being pushed hard by Arnie Bryant, the well known hater and black radical, as well as Larry Shapiro,Karen Yarbrough,Gary Woll and Mike Manzo.Instead of doing something to help our children, these bums, are looking at ways to fleece the taxpayers so that they can make money for themselves. Now read what Flowers wants done(below), and also read what Bryant wrote about a discussion he would give to students about black economics.

"The annual White Privilege Conference (WPC) would serve as a yearly opportunity to examine and explore difficult issues related to white privilege, white supremacy and oppression. WPC provides a forum for critical discussions about diversity, multicultural education and leadership, social justice, race/racism, sexual orientation, gender relations, religion and other systems of privilege/oppression. WPC is recognized as a challenging, empowering and educational experience. The workshops, keynotes and institutes not only inform participants, but engage and challenge them, while providing practical tips and strategies for combating inequality.
The conference participants and presenters include corporate and non-profit community members, students, educators, activists, musicians and artists. This conference is not about beating up on white folks. This conference is about critically examining the society in which we live and working to dismantle systems of power, prejudice, privilege and oppression. "
Arnie Bryant's proposed talking points to students.( He will charge the county $300 an hour, and he estimated the workshop would take 3 days.Imagine 24* 300= 7,200 dollars for Bryant, and add that to 90 public high schools ,without including private schools or grammer schools, that would add up to $57,000 alone for Bryant, while Yarbrough,Woll,Coglinese and Manzo would own the company that would win the bid to be the presenters for the county!!What thieves!)
During the civil war, the armies of the Confederacy relied on blacks to cook for the troops and to make the implements of war they would use in battle; and likewise, the Union relied on black soldiers–around 200,000 of them–to ultimately win the war. That too, is most assuredly dependence.
And white dependence on people of color continues to this day. Each year, African Americans spend over $500 billion with white-owned companies: money that goes mostly into the pockets of the white owners, white employees, white stockholders, and white communities in which they live. And yet we say black people need us? We think they are the dependent ones, relying as we assume they do on the paltry scraps of an eviscerated welfare state? Now let’s just cut the crap. Who would be hurt more: black folks if all welfare programs were shut down tomorrow, or white folks, if blacks decided they were through transferring half-a-trillion dollars each year to white people and were going to keep their money in their own communities?
Or what about the ongoing dependence of white businesses on the exploitation of black labor? Each year, according to estimates from the Urban Institute, over $120 billion in wages are lost to African Americans thanks to discrimination in the labor market. That’s money that doesn’t end up in the hands of the folks who earned it, but rather remains in the bank accounts of owners.

  • I can't believe that Flowers and Bryant would do a "Todd Stroger" and fleece the taxpayers! How in the hell can these two morons blame white people for all the problems in the black community???Why is it that every time we hear about a crime, a murder , a rape it always seems to blacks doing the crimes? What about the 22y/o black guy who beat up the 90y/o black man, pummeling him 44 times as seen on video, and other black men standing around and doing nothing????What about the destruction of Cook County goverment, cook county hospital under Stroger?? What about the destruction of Maywood and the school districts 88,89 and 209, destroyed by blacks???
Instead of blaming whitey, they should blame themselves, and if they can't do that, maybe its time for them to leave the country and go some where else.I'm sure, we and this country would be much better off without them!!!!

  • Carl why would you post that last comment? Are you as sick as the Insider? I thought you were not going to post comments that insinuate and name call. Let's elevate the discussion, not post BS that is untrue.

  • Carl delete the comment about Bryant and Flowers. Come on it is obviously a ridiculous lie created by Brian Cross and Chris Welch.

Let's talk about Welch's employment at James J. Roche and Associates. I am sure that will strike a nerve.

  • You guys need to focus on some real issues going on in the district. Welch has hired Fields to get rid of employees that have put in numerous years working at Proviso because he is too afraid and cowardly to stand up like a man. The new superintendent will be evaluated on Monday night, June 18, 2007. All employees that have their jobs in jeopardy should make it their business to report to this meeting. We need to show them that it is our community. They get paid by our taxes and we will not tolerate unfairness any longer. They can't terminate everyone. Show up at Proviso East ready to give them a run for the monies that they have stolen from your community and placed in their pockets!
