POL, Carothers runs for chair Cook County Dems
Alderman Isaac "Ike" Carothers (29th Ward) has decided to run against Joseph Berrios, Democratic Committeeman of the 31st Ward. See Chicago Sun-Times (Fran Spielman).
Carothers did support Berrios. But when he made phone calls for Berrios Carothers found people didn't support Berrios and indicated a preference for Carothers.
Berrios has the support of Speaker Michael Madigan, chair of the Illinois Democrats.
If Carothers became chair of the Cook County Dems, would this increase Proviso's clout or otherwise affect local politics?

1 Comments:
Berrios does NOT have the support of Speaker Madigan. Madigan has not committed as of todays date.
Carothers would turn the party on it's head. Not a bad thing.
