I think that the election of Charles Flowers as Regional Superintendent is significant. Afterall, that seat was held by the Republicans for ages and it was a Countywide event.
Perhaps, also the Democratic sweep.

The consequences of the Harder hearing for all police officers is that if they want you out,for whatever reason, the most trivial of charges can and will be used against you. Selective persecution.

Karen Yarbrough defeating Eugene Moore for Democratic Committeeman and Chris Welch losing badly his campaign for state rep. were great stories for 2006. But the best story yet, will be when Chris Welch loses his control over Proviso High School district #209, in year 2007. I can't wait for this change to happen!! Happy New Year everyone!

The best news story of 2006 in Proviso has to be that the voters wised up and voted out Eugene Moore and his ally Chris Welch! The voters also were inspired and help eleiminate Bob Ingraffia and replace him with our own Dr. Charles Flowers.
But to me the biggest story of 2006,which has made the biggest impact on how Proviso governs and will act, was the creation of the Proviso Probe by its editor Carl Nyberg, who finally created an engine to expose true crimes and inefficiencies on our goverment services and has changed the face of Proviso Politics and the media forever!!The biggest loss for 2006 in Proviso and for Forest Park was the retirement of Seth Stern who investigaive work and clear writing will be sorely missed.Seth Stern along with the Forest Park review paper and the Proviso Probe clearly changed for the better how proviso will be governed and made goverment more accountable to the people! My hope is that Josjh Adams can be half as good as Seth and Carl and then truely 2007 will be even better!!!!

I agree. The most important story of the year for Proviso is 209 getting a new superintendent. I hope the biggest story for 2007 is how he EXPONENTIALLY improved things for Proviso kids. I feel the odds are against it but I pray he gets things transformed.

Chris Welch and mentor Gene Moore smashed by Karen Yarbrough. New in 2007. Chris Welch indicted for patronage hiring. Total number of relatives just reached 15, not including his friends. At least hire relatives that want to work.

I went to Dr. Fields' community meeting and I thought he acknowledged Carl Nyberg but I think he showed how unacceptable he feels the Proviso politics are when the school's performance is taken into account. I think he wants whats best for our schools and he wants to dismiss the political crap. Unfortunately that's a tough fire to extinguish. You go, Dr. Fields!
