What's going to happen at tonight's board meeting?

  • welch is not a bad guy, he is just to politically involved to do lawyer work. you cant be a politician and work for your own employees in a different seting.this IS raw chicAGO POLITICS. WELCH NEEDS TO DECIDE IF HE IS GOING TO BE A LAWYER OR A SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER. THAT MESS IN SD88 IS RIDICULOUS. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY HAPPEN TO GET FIRED TWICE IN TWO YEARS? WHAT WAS WELCH DOING OVER THERE? THE PAPER DID NOT TOUCH ON IT A LOT BUT HOW COULD HE GET HIRED BACK ONLY TO BE FIRED AGAIN. PLEASE EXPLAIN TOO ME.

  • These writings are sickening and lend nothing to political discourse or the remediation of problems. I am particularly referring to the blackbald-cockroach commentaries. As for Steve, what ever our differences regarding Bob Libka, why can't you reveal your real name. I always realize that some of the "anonymous" and stupid names that people choose, there are some that fear for their jobs in 89 and/or 209, but whatever happened to real debate that, yes, follows the rules of issue oriented discussion. I could care less whether Mr. Welch has any other sexual preferences nor whether Ms. Kelly wears a lot of wigs. What silliness and easy to say, a plague on both of your houses regarding the governance of 209. Some of us have fought the corruption and patronage in 89 and 209 for almost 40 years. I remember horribly wintry nights in the winter of the late 60's and early 70's when Ron Burke, Bill Frazier, Jim Ivory, Bill Goggins and others including us "strange" white liberals who led boycotts of shopping in Melrose because of their total mismanagement and corrupt control of our school boards (along with a few, but influential minions who lived in Maywood but got a few leftover porkchops from the trough of the Danny Boy Coglianeses.) Power has shifted a little north to Maywood/Bellwood etc but the people in control, and some of those who oppose them still do not really care about the education of our children BUT, jobs and contracts. Can I say it any louder and clearer and, yes, I have always signed my real name for 40 years. And, yes, I do not give up on the real concerns of the overwhelming majority of our citizenry.

  • 4 employees were terminated according to board meetings (posted on the D209's website). It doesn't indicate if these were support staff employees? I'm curious because a support staff senority list was issued a few weeks ago.

    Is Philystine Murphy, the new Human Resource Manager being paid two salaries? From the minutes, it looks like she will be making a superintendent's salary for the position of HRM. THe HRM position salary was originally 50-60K. So which is it, two salaries, or one salary for both positions or is she stepping down from superintendent.

    IF Proviso wants to save money, they can eliminate Steve Knox's position as head of ORS. Mr. Knox is suppose to help Special Ed students get jobs. Yet, he is never at Proviso East or West. HE only shows up on payday. The kids don't have jobs and no one is questioning why this man is getting paid over 80K a year.
