ED, Bellwood Elementary schools holds special meeting on Dr. Mack [D88]

Yesterday at 4 PM, the District 88 board of education (Bellwood and Stone Park elementary schools) held a special meeting to resolve the status of Dr. Willie Mack. In closed session the complete board of education, interim superintendent Drew Starsiak and board attorney Emanuel "Chris" Welch received a verbal report from attorney Anthony Scariano on charges against Dr. Willie Mack.

The board voted 4-3 to accept Mack's resignation and pay Mack $1,500 severance. Board member John Wicks thought it was unusual that no document signed by Mack or his attorney supported the claim Mack had agreed to the conditions. Since the meeting Mack has denied any knowledge of such a deal.

  • Well, well, politric put mr. Mack in office and it has taken him out of office. Play hard, die hard. What was wrong with the superintendent before Mack? It really does not matter who is at the helm at 88 maske sure your kid get his education. Do not get caught up with this soap opera. I recall less than a year ago. Wicks was the man, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, what happen.

  • To PROVISO BOOSTER PARENT you are most certainly right about at least six of these individuals at most. Anderson and Miller get their lead from the Welch and the Hispanic chick (as you state) forgets she is an elected official for Stone Park and not the Mayor's lackey. Consider the fact that she could probably run for mayor for the hispanic population of the village. Wicks and Dorris-what a team-Dorris is honest and upfront with her feelings and has an heart for the children and the community however, she does stand up for what is right but a bit too emotional. Let's almost put Wicks and Thurman in the same boat on different ends with Baxter in the middle. Excuse me God made no junk. Thurman knows how to manipulate and has enough knowledge stirke up a deal or climb into a political bed with Welch. Who coaches the Busby lady? Have you ever considered that she is just really green and has not ripen yet and NOT afraid of Welch. I have heard that she said she would welcome the state to come in and takeover or remove of the entire board just to get the bull---t out of the way of the children's education.

  • To: It Really Does Not Matter
    From: A parent and educator

It does matter who is at the helm of district 88. I would hope with the ignorant comments made by you , you are not a board member or an educator in district 88.

You stated "It really does not matter who is at the helm at 88 maske sure your kid get his education." But have you noticed that the children in district 88 are not learning and are not getting an education. The schools are failing. Your gripe should not be with Wicks and who has the power, it should be with the children not getting an education that will prepare them for high school and life. Board members come an go and Anderson, Welch and Miller shelf life is soon to expire.

  • No, I am not a board member. I am an Educator, at home. I tell my kids what they must do and I expect the best from them. I stay in their ASS. It is my job as a parent to raise my children and move them toward dependency. I am a parent in D88 and D209. With all the bull.... going on at district 88 and 209, a solid foundation has been laid for my children because you can not depend on the board. As long as teachers are in those classrooms from Monday - Friday, that is all that mattertome, because my kids will be there to learn and not to act a foul. It is not a coincidence that all my kids are on the A honor roll, because I KNOW, that education is important. I am a living witness. I do not care if you call my comments ignorant, because itreallydoesnotmatter, because I am going to make sure my kids get there education. You just keep showing up to work Monday-Friday and teach the kids.I do not have a grip with wick, doris, miller, the other people on the board, why because itreallydoesnotmatter, as long as the teachers are there Monday-Friday, my kids will bve there to learn. PERIOD. You must be a WICK supporter. But, hey, itreallydoesnotmatter, make sure YOUR kid get his education. MAKE SURE YOU REPORT TO SCHOLL TOMMORROW FOR YOU TO TEACH MY KIDS. I DO PAY YOUR SALARY.

  • It is sad that you only worry about your own. What about the majority of failing students at 88 and 209. What are solutions for those children? It was once upon a time in Bellwood that the community cared about all the children in Bellwood. You have made it so you have a selfish mentality, and for the record it does matter. You sound like a white supremist group. Go back to the West Side and enroll your children in Austin. Would you care then? Would it matter then? Oh, okay.

If the teachers are teaching then why are the schools on the academic watch list? It is depressing that you think that the community cannot depend on the board. The community voted those people in to do a job. If we had more people that cared maybe the schools would not be failing.
    You should want to care!

  • Don't post under "anonymous". Use a pseudonym.

  • hey anonymous11:25,

You can not even follow simple directions and you call yourself an educator. What did Carl tell you to do - use pseudonym. I am not a white supremist, I am a bonifide negro who in the past have worked to make things better in Bellwood and surrounding communities. I have been very involved in the community - matter of fact I might know you. I have made things happen on a small scale, but as you should know, in proviso it is not about the children and family - that is a front that the so-called local politicians use. If we do not take care of our children, the community will go down. When you have some time from you busy schedule pull Bellwood's budget, pull Memorial park budget, pull district 209 budget, pull 88 budget, JUST pull ALL the dam budgets and you will see where their priorities are at. You will see where the money is allocated. Most of the money is going toward taking care of their buddies (mainly white boys) who do not live in the area. These contractors- mostly white boys do not give anything back to the community. These contractors of the various goverment entities do not give a s... about our community. Do you feel me, my dear brother or sister. Hey, I have busted my ass to the point that these white boys have tried to ruin my professional career. But, ohhhhhhhhhh, it did not work. I tried my dear brother or sister but our people overall do not care, so why should I risk my career on negroes who do not care. We do not vote, but we complain. I have to live.

You dam right I am selfish when it come to my family. If other parents were selfish maybe we would not have the problems with kids acheiving in school. The Board is the board - they are going to do what they do. Your child got to get his education. An employer is not going to ask you son or daughter when s/he grows up, who ran the board at their high school. They are going to want to know, do that person have the skills, abilty, knowlege to do the job. Do you think students are sitting home saying "man, the board need to get there act together or I am going to be in trouble after I graduate". I have a family to raise. However, if a family came to my attention and needed finincial help or want me to work with their son or daughter, I will not hesitate. Do you vote consistently Anonymous? Have you ran for office? Are you out in the community durng the summer, winter, spring months (I am)interacting with the children or do you just deal with them behind the four walls of your school - where you get paid. If you have done or are doing all of the above CONSISTENTLY, great. If not, itreallydoesnotmatter, because I am going to keep on doing what I am doing and you are going to do what you have to do. Just keep on teaching the kids.
