ED, pictures of McKinley elementary school [D88]
This entry contains pictures taken this morning at McKinley Elementary School. For the backstory and analysis see the Proviso Probe entry below.
Picture 1 is the McKinley sign on Eastern.
Picture 2 is the plaque in the addition where most of the leakage problems exist.
Picture 3 is three tubs that were collecting dripping water this morning.
Picture 4 is the same three tubs with Board Member John Wicks to give a better idea of the scale.
Picture 5 is a picture of a bucket to collect ceiling leaks in a classroom. The bucket was dry but the carpet was wet. It wasn’t merely damp or cool to the touch. It wasn’t soaked, but it was wet.
Additionally, the two of the classrooms I entered had a noticeable funk to the air.
Picture 6 is a picture of the corner of a closet attached to a ground floor classroom. The water damage and mold has been painted over, but returned.
Picture 7 shows how the water damage has gotten underneath the tiles and baseboards.

You have to wonder how anyone expect kids to learn in this environment.

when you see how some students in the USA are "educated," you wonder how any of them learn.

Carl this is next to condemnation of a childs life. how can these teachers stand by and let such conditions go unnoticed. this obviously had to take a long time evolving into this mass of mold , but does anyone even know the dammage that it can do to brain cells. this has been proven over and over again. States have closed schools in the white areas because of it. why is the mcKinley school still open? This is ludicrious. Oh my god please help those children people. close that school down immediatelly.

WHO IS THE FIRM OR PROJECT MANAGER ADVISING THE BELLWOOD SCHOOL DISTRICT 88 BOARD. CERTAINLLY MS. THURMAN CANT BE MAKING ALL OF THESE DECISSIONS ALONE. I DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS, IF THIS IS A BAD APPLE IT IS A BAD APPLE. WHY CANT CHILDREN BE RELOCATED UNTIL THE ROOF IS PUT ON OR WILL THE ROOF SOLVE THE PROBLEM? WHY IS SD88 THE ONLY SCHOOL DISTRICT THAT DOES NOT HAVE A PROJECT MANAGER FOR THE CONDEMED SCHOOL?

Hey What ever happened to the Chris Welch radio show with his co-hosts Brian"I am President of the young demcrat faries" Cross and Don"I'm the White Master of the negros" Sloan?
Did they go off the air?
Did Sloan smell a loser in Welch and like the rat he is dropped him and now when asked about Welch he says"Welch who?","I was never on the radio","I never bad mouthed and cursed out Yarbrough,Peraica,Flowers,Vicinek,Pasqualli,Herrell,Esposito and Mazulla"!?
Did Cross drop Welch also, and now is washing cars at 25Ave. for Pasqualli?
I sure miss there shows,it was so entertaining, especially there last one when the blasted YARBROUGH and PERAICA, then after there show Peraica,Yarbrough and Flowers blasted them and laughed at them!
Ha, the good old days!
Hey Carl you should do a commentary asking your bloggers to reminisce on the chris and two rat show, and ask them about there favorite momoents and can they rember what they stated as fact.
It would be a doozer!

I deleted the two comments under "anonymous". Use a pseudonym.
Were there any gratuitous comments about others' sex lives?
Being unpleasant isn't grounds for getting comments deleted. It's the Internet. It's a little coarser than Pioneer Press.

I have requested, since April 05 to have the children of this school removed to other locations in the district only to receive objections to any idea contrived regarding the safety of our children. (Yes our children, I have 2 grandchildren at this school)

Might I advise to call FOX news or another news channel and get this situation on TV.?
I have always been proud to say that I was a "product of Dist. 88" and now I can't believe this is going on.

TAKE CHARGE here please!
Call the news, FOX, NBS, CBS...OPRAH, Operation PUSH..someone who can get the message and problem out to the masses.
Is there a task force set up to solve this problem?
Why/how has it gotten this bad?
Does the mayor know and if so what is he doing about it?
Can you get a tax referendum going to raise money for a new school? (Sounds like this should have been done quite a while ago.)
have the kids go PT to the other schools in the district. St. Chatles did this when one of their high schools posed a health risk until the solution was solved.
Stop pointing fingers, at least for now, and somebody actually do something.
How much have the parents heard of this? How much do they know? What about the PTA? teacher's union?
Shame on all the organizations that have a piece of the pie and dist 88. Empower yourselves and make it happen!
From someone who lived in Bellwood and went to #88 and #209 I am embarassed and ashamed.
SAVE THE CHILDREN! STOP THE POLITICS!
