Jason Ervin hired by Maywood

The Maywood Herald (David Pollard) has coverage of Maywood hiring Jason Ervin as interim finance director.
A political ally of Maywood's mayor now fills the finance director's seat.

Jason Ervin, a certified public account as well as supporter of Henderson Yarbrough Sr. during his campaign for mayor, is the interim finance director....

Ervin is no stranger to politics and was one of three candidates who ran for the Fourth District state Senate seat against Kimberly Lightford in the 2002 Democratic Primary.

  • This is a clear political hire. The former campaign treasurer for Rep. Karen Yarbrough. The right hand man of Ald. Ed Smith from the 28th Ward. A former worker for the Henderson Yarbrough campaign. This smacks of cronyism. Carl, are you going to cover this story with equal obsession or are you going to look away because these are your friends? Do you really think it's a good idea that Maywood is starting to look like the 28th Ward in Chicago?

  • Will Jason Ervin do a good job in this position?

Based on what I know of Ervin, the Village of Maywood is fortunate to have someone of his talent.

Do you have any information that suggests Ervin will not do a good job? Was there someone more qualified that didn't get the job?
