Maywood Public Works director placed on administrative leave
Interim Village Manager Jason Ervin placed Larry Gates on administrative leave. See Proviso Herald (David Pollard). The article does not give the reason.
Ervin is a political ally of Ald. Ed Smith and Henderson & Karen Yarbrough. Henderson Yarbrough is Maywood's village president. Ervin was twice promoted in the wake of the Yarbrough-led board firing people. Ervin became finance director when the board fired his predecessor. Recently the board fired Rob Nellis and appointed Ervin on an interim basis.
I think it's fair to assume that Ervin will be applying to be the permanent village manager.
I don't know why Gates was fired, but I doubt it will hurt Ervin's chances of dropping "interim" from his title.

So it's ok to have a political hack as a Village Manager as long as that hack is loyal to Yarbrough? Well, at least one thing you're consistent with: your continued double standards.

If you think this is the way Yarbrough, Smith or Ervin would have written this story, you're an idiot.

So,who cares! Let's move Maywood forward. I am willing to give Jason Ervin a chance. Hell, everybody else has ran Maywood. Ran it all the way to the ground. I don't think it could get any worse.

Carl picks and chooses his harshness on who he wants to pick on, if it relates to Yarbrough he takes it slow and easy. Not true for others, in Forest Park he goes hard and strong.
Carl does have a double set of standards that he has shown and proven time and time again.
It's the nature of the beast.

I fail to find this post important. Employees are hired/fired all the time in government.
Gates was a under-qualified gadfly. The department limped along for years under his leadership. His men/women detested him and were fed up with the double standards in the department. (his son COOKOO who worked in the department shirked his responsiblities daily)
Gates wasn't a bad guy but was old, tired and "got by" by currying favor with trustees and the Mayor. His luck ran out...

By the way, I like Erving. He's smart, fair and wants to get things done in Maywood. I don't care who he gets along with or without.
He has my support.

Ervin is a corrupt hack who has eaten on to many Crispy Kremes.
If anyone should have been let go in village hall, it should have been the sorry as code enforcement supervisor.

Corrupt, hack Ervin?
Sounds like a village employee that got fired recently. All you had to do is your job, show up for work, don't diddle any young girls, pass the drug test, qualify for your position. It's simple.
Hack Ervin is not.
